I'm A Celeb's Angry Ginge Apologises for 'Feed the Scousers' Chant
Angry Ginge apologises for offensive football chant

Reality TV personality and online streamer Angry Ginge has been compelled to issue a public apology after a video surfaced of him participating in an offensive football chant.

The Controversial Incident

The incident occurred in November 2023 during Manchester United's 3-0 victory over Everton. The I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! contestant, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was filmed in the away end singing the contentious 'Feed the Scousers' chant. The video, which was shared on his YouTube channel, amassed millions of views and sparked significant backlash.

The chant uses the melody of the 1984 Band Aid charity single 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' but alters the lyrics to mock food poverty, a particularly sensitive issue in the Liverpool area, whose residents are often referred to as 'Scousers'.

A Heartfelt Public Apology

Facing a wave of criticism, Angry Ginge posted a sincere apology on his social media platforms. He explained that he had spoken with his friends from Liverpool to better understand the meaning behind the words.

"I've just seen the tweets that are going around about the chant I sang at the Everton game," he wrote. "I'm so sorry I sang that chant, I got caught up in the moment and didn't think about what it actually meant."

He emphasised his personal background, having been raised on a council estate by his mother and nan, and stated that he genuinely sympathises with those facing hardship. "I've come from that background... and ate £1 microwave meals every night," he confessed. "I 100% sympathise with you and I'm sorry, I genuinely meant nothing by it, I just got caught up."

Jungle Fame and Role Model Praise

Despite the controversy, Angry Ginge has become a breakout star on the current series of I'm A Celebrity. Viewers were instantly amused by his entrance, where he sported his signature red Lightning McQueen crocs.

His openness about his sobriety has also drawn praise, with many fans hailing him as a positive role model for young men. Comments on social media have celebrated the honest conversations he has sparked, with one viewer noting his positive impact on the younger male demographic.

In the jungle, Ginge triumphed in an initial challenge, securing a spot in the 'luxury getaway car' alongside rapper Aitch, Eddie Kadi, and Jack Osbourne. He has already been nominated for the first bushtucker trial, testing his mettle in an eating challenge at 'The Divey'.
