Bianca Dye Reveals Kerri-Anne Kennerley's Boxing Glove Gift & Sage TV Advice
Bianca Dye's Wild 30th Birthday Run-In With Kerri-Anne Kennerley

Australian media personality Bianca Dye has shared a memorable anecdote from her 30th birthday party, involving a legendary piece of advice and an unusual gift from TV icon Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

A Birthday Gift With a Punch

The 52-year-old Golden Bachelor star reminisced about the 2003 encounter during a recent event in Melbourne for RoC Skincare. Dye, who was once Kennerley's 'music reviewer', revealed she expressed her career aspirations to the veteran presenter at the celebration. 'I said, "I want to be you. I want to do my own show,"' Bianca recalled.

Kennerley's response was both practical and symbolic. The host of her own titular breakfast show on the Nine Network told the younger star she would need 'much thicker skin' to survive the cut-throat entertainment industry. To drive the point home, her birthday present was a pair of boxing gloves. 'She gave me a pair of boxing gloves for my 30th birthday,' Dye said. 'I've still got them. She went, "You're going to need these if you're going to work in this industry."'

From Radio to Reality TV: A Varied Career

Bianca Dye has indeed forged a diverse path in showbusiness since that formative advice. Her career highlights include:

  • A successful radio career, hosting The Nitemix Across Australia and being a foundation presenter at Nova 96.9 in Sydney.
  • Breakfast presenting roles on i98FM, 92.5 Gold FM, 97.3 FM, and Sea FM 90.9.
  • Television appearances on shows like Mornings with Kerri-Anne, Thank God You're Here, Ready Steady Cook, and Celebrity Singing Bee.
  • Most recently, a stint on the debut season of The Golden Bachelor Australia, where she was eliminated in episode five.

Future Reality TV Ambitions and Brand Deals

Speaking to the Daily Mail at The Royce in Melbourne, Dye also addressed her future on reality television. She confirmed that, despite her interest, Channel Nine has not approached her to be the first Australian Golden Bachelorette. However, she expressed keen interest in joining The Amazing Race with her close friend, Big Brother star Reggie Bird.

'Reggie said to me, "Can we please apply for The Amazing Race?" Can you imagine the two of us?' Bianca said. 'We would be hilarious.' She also revealed she had turned down a place on the reserve list for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! almost a decade ago, a decision she now jokes about given the show's current popularity.

Capitalising on her raised profile from The Golden Bachelor, Dye has secured several brand partnerships. She was a guest speaker at the launch for RoC Skincare's new Derm Correxion Firming Serum Stick, an event hosted by Real Housewives of Melbourne star Kyla Kirkpatrick.
