Boyzone to Reunite for Final Time in New Sky Documentary
Boyzone Reunite for Final Sky Documentary

Boyzone is set to reunite for one final time in a new Sky documentary that will offer fans a raw and revealing look at their farewell performances. The documentary, titled One for the Road, follows the Irish pop group as they prepare for their last-ever concerts at London's Emirates Stadium, scheduled for June 5 and 6.

A Glimpse into the Final Chapter

The documentary promises to be a warm, funny, raw, and revealing story of friendship, forgiveness, aging, and legacy. It captures the band navigating unresolved tensions and unfinished business from their final tour in 2019, all while carrying the weight of decades of personal history and the expectations of thousands of fans.

Last year, the three-part documentary Boyzone: No Matter What chronicled their journey to stardom and shattered viewing records for Sky Documentaries. Now, the band is back in front of cameras for One for the Road, which documents their preparations for a final reunion.

Concerts and Setlist

All four original members—Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy, and Shane Lynch—will take the stage for two special concerts at Emirates Stadium. The initial one-off concert on June 6 sold out quickly, prompting organizers to add a second performance on June 5.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning, Ronan Keating shared insights into the setlist: "It was funny putting the setlist together for next week. All the songs, we were visiting all the songs we haven't sung in 25, 27 years, like Coming Home. It's amazing—even people in the room when we're rehearsing, everyone's like 'Oh my Lord.' There are 25 songs in the setlist."

Honoring Stephen Gately

The band will also honor their late bandmate Stephen Gately, who tragically passed away in 2009 at the age of 33 from a pulmonary edema caused by an undiagnosed heart condition. Shane Lynch emphasized that the shows will be a celebration of Stephen's life: "It's a special time for us to do that. Outside of this bubble called Boyzone, to remember Stephen and his ways, and the love—it's a particular memory of an individual. When we get together, he's very much alive. We celebrate him to our fullest."

Ronan added that when the band is together, it feels as though Stephen is still getting ready in his dressing room: "He's here, he's alive."

Behind the Reunion

The band explained that Ed Sheeran played a role in getting them back together after watching their documentary. Ronan initially had hesitations about a full tour, but after speaking with Ed Sheeran, they decided on two "crazy" shows. While the band is not playing in Ireland, Keith Duffy acknowledged the disappointment among Irish fans but noted that they hadn't been offered any shows on home soil.

Documentary Details

Executive producer Dov Freedman described the response to the initial series as "incredible," noting that audiences engaged with the raw truth and honesty of the celebrity doc. Sky's head of documentary commissioning, Hayley Reynolds, said: "Boyzone: No Matter What sparked an extraordinary outpouring of love for the band, and we're thrilled to be working with Curious Films again to document this landmark reunion—something that may never have happened had the boys not approached telling their story with such honesty and candid testimony."

Boyzone: One for the Road is set to arrive on Sky and Now later this year.
