Singer Brian McFadden's romantic history has seldom escaped public scrutiny, frequently generating as many column inches as his musical endeavours. From youthful courtship and a high-profile marriage that developed before the nation's gaze, to subsequent relationships that unfolded through interviews, social platforms and even a lavish overseas wedding ceremony, his romantic journey has been decidedly unpredictable.
There have been engagements, separations and frank revelations throughout, with each instalment attracting renewed interest from admirers and the press alike. Currently, years beyond those tumultuous headlines, the former Westlife singer seems to have discovered a more stable existence with PE teacher Danielle Parkinson. As he features on Tipping Point for Soccer Aid, we've examined his previous relationships more closely.
Kerry Katona
During pop music's golden era, Brian commenced dating Kerry Katona following their 1999 meeting, and they ultimately wed in County Meath, Ireland, in 2002 after a three-year courtship. Together, they welcomed two daughters: Molly, who arrived in 2001, and Lily-Sue, born two years subsequently in 2003. Nevertheless, the marriage concluded shortly thereafter, with the pair separating in 2004 and completing their divorce in 2006.
It has been claimed that the relationship ended following Brian's infidelity to Kerry Katona during his stag celebration, with suggestions that he subsequently paid the other woman £15,000 in return for her discretion. Speaking candidly on Paul Brunon's podcast We Need To Talk, the vocalist revealed: "I only found out after we got married. The girl he had cheated on me with was a lap dancer and he had made her sign an NDA and paid her 15 grand to keep her mouth shut. But she still told the papers anyway. It was never the same after that with me and Brian." She continued: "I think he must have had doubts... then I started to resent him." Kerry also suspected that Brian may have experienced some jealousy towards her when she featured on ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!
Looking back on the relationship's collapse in an interview with Reveal magazine, Brian acknowledged he sensed their marriage was finished during his stag do, saying it made him understand "this is not supposed to be." Nevertheless, he and the mother of his children have succeeded in maintaining a constructive relationship through the years. "We had a really good phone conversation not long ago where we were properly giggling," Kerry said. "If I picked up the phone, he'd be there for me," she added.
Delta Goodrem
After his marriage to Kerry Katona ended, Brian subsequently discovered love with Australian vocalist and Neighbours actress Delta Goodrem. Their romance became increasingly committed over time, with Brian even proposing at one point. Nevertheless, after seven years as a couple, they confirmed their separation in 2011. A statement issued at the time clarified: "This decision has been made with a lot of soul searching from both parties with the realisation that they have grown apart."
After the separation, Delta spoke candidly about her emotions. She told Vogue Australia: "Do I wish that it ended earlier? Yes. Do I wish I had the courage to leave earlier? Yes, I do." Addressing the remarks in a now-deleted X post, Brian stated: "I'm not considering legal action. I also wouldn't stoop as low as her. If I did, it would change everything. But I'm happy!"
Vogue Williams
A romance many have overlooked through the years is Brian's partnership with Irish presenter and model Vogue Williams. The couple wed in 2012. Nevertheless, the relationship ultimately reached an unforeseen conclusion in 2015, with their divorce completed in 2017. The duo enjoyed a lavish ceremony at the Castello di Vincigliata in Florence, Italy, surrounded by family and friends marking the special day.
Yet despite the storybook venue, Vogue subsequently acknowledged she believed Brian wasn't cut out for matrimony, characterising their relationship as "a disaster from the start." She additionally disclosed in her autobiography that she regretted the marriage. In her autobiography Big Mouth, Vogue expressed her reflections. She wrote: "The morning of the wedding I felt very stressed and so anxious because deep down I knew I had made a mistake. After the wedding, I tried to make things work. The relationship wasn't all terrible, we did have some great times too, and for the most part he was good fun to be around. But he was not husband material."
Revealing the separation to followers at the time, Brian posted on social media: "It is with sadness that Vogue and I have made the tough decision to go our separate ways. We will always care greatly about each other, remain friends and wish each other all the very best for the future. We have nothing else to say on the subject and we would like to thank our friends and family for their support during this difficult period. Brian x." Vogue is now married to Made In Chelsea's Spencer Matthews.
Danielle Parkinson
Brian is presently partnered with former PE teacher Danielle Parkinson. The duo initially connected in 2016 through a shared acquaintance, with reports at the time suggesting the singer was utterly besotted with his Manchester-born partner. They were initially spotted together exchanging a kiss at a golf event in 2016. In 2019, news emerged that the couple were engaged.
Discussing their romance at the time, former wife Kerry offered her approval and told OK!: "Molly and Lilly weren't as close to Delta or Vogue, but they would love Brian to marry Danielle." Meanwhile, Brian told The Express: "I don't hide away my personal life. Me and Danielle have a wonderful life together and I don't mind talking about it, but I don't put it out there or put it in people's faces. You have to have some part of your life for private or else you just have nothing for yourself."
Brian and Danielle walked down the aisle last year. The devoted couple also have one child together. Tipping Point for Soccer Aid airs Monday, May 25 at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
