Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet has seemingly put an end to the long-running internet speculation that he is secretly the masked Liverpudlian rapper EsDeeKid, by appearing alongside him in a new music video. The 29-year-old actor surprised fans by dropping a video for the remix of the track '4 Raws', in which he delivers a rap verse and even makes a direct reference to his billionaire girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.
The Video That Settled the Debate
For months, online conspiracy theories have swirled, suggesting the Oscar-nominated actor and the anonymous, balaclava-clad UK rap sensation were one and the same. The speculation was fuelled by their striking physical resemblance, particularly their similar green eyes. Fans had even noted both had been seen wearing the same skull-print Alexander McQueen scarf.
The new video, however, shows the two figures side-by-side, effectively debunking the theory. In his verse, Chalamet raps: 'It's Timothée Chalamet chillin' / tryna stack a hundred million / Girl got a billion / What the f***? What a wonderful feelin''. The line about his 'girl' is a clear nod to Kylie Jenner, 28, following recent rumours about their relationship status.
Fan Reaction and Social Media Frenzy
The internet reacted with a mix of shock and amusement to the collaborative video. One fan commented on social media: 'now we have seen timothee chalamet and esdeekid in the same room.' Another user joked, 'How can you be at 2 places at once @tchalamet,' while others shared the famous meme of two Spider-Mans pointing at each other.
Many focused on Chalamet's lyrical mention of Jenner, with one writing, '"My girl got a billion" say it louderrrr,' in reference to the Kylie Cosmetics mogul's wealth. The video drop follows Chalamet's mysterious comments earlier this month on the Heart FM Breakfast show. When asked directly by hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston if he was EsDeeKid, he replied, 'I got no comment on that', before teasing, 'all will be revealed in due time.'
Promotion and Personal Life
The unexpected musical move comes as Chalamet is in the midst of a major promotional campaign for his upcoming film, Marty Supreme. The A24 ping-pong drama, in which he stars and produces, is set for a limited UK release on December 26. The actor has been training for the role since as far back as 2018.
Meanwhile, Jenner recently addressed her famously private approach to her relationship on her Hulu show, The Kardashians. She explained her protective stance stems from growing up in the spotlight from the age of nine, stating, 'I have to live my life. I can't live for whatever everyone else wants me to do.'
While the video appears to settle the EsDeeKid mystery, some sceptics online still question whether an American actor could perfectly mimic the rapper's strong Scouse accent. Nonetheless, for most fans, seeing the pair together in the same frame is evidence enough that Timothée Chalamet has been telling the truth—or has executed an incredibly elaborate double-bluff.
