Jeremy Clarkson Recalls Tractor Crash That Required Kaleb Cooper as 'Bonnet Ornament'

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed a terrifying tractor accident that forced him to call on his Clarkson's Farm co-star Kaleb Cooper for help. The 61-year-old broadcaster described the incident during an interview with The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, explaining that he had purchased a faulty tractor disk that left his vehicle defective.

Clarkson said the disk was too heavy, causing the front wheels of his tractor to lift into the air and become stuck. To remedy the situation, he placed Cooper in the front box to add weight, effectively using him as a 'bonnet ornament' like the flying lady on a Rolls Royce. The only way he could drive the tractor was with Cooper perched on the bonnet.

After the mishap, Clarkson had a beer tasting session planned and, instead of finding alternative transport, drove the tractor with Cooper still on the bonnet to his brewery. He joked that after tasting beer all afternoon, the tractor ride became an 'even more amazing spectacle'.

When asked if the incident was filmed for the upcoming second series of Clarkson's Farm, Clarkson confirmed it was not, as the camera crew had a day off. The show recently won a prize at the British Farming Awards, with Clarkson dedicating the win to Cooper, calling him the star of the show.

Clarkson also commented on his lack of Bafta nominations, suggesting his friendship with former Prime Minister David Cameron has led to him being overlooked. Despite this, he remains proud of his achievements, including an International Motor Film Award in 2019 for The Grand Tour.
