Coronation Street fans have described Carl Webster's transformation as 'insane' after the character was seen rushing to aid his family in the latest episode of the ITV soap, 15 months after his debut.
Carl's Dramatic Shift
Carl Webster arrived in Weatherfield last year, marking the first time viewers had ever seen the younger half-sibling of Kevin and Debbie Webster, who had only been mentioned by name previously. His storylines included an affair with sister-in-law Abi Webster and a fling with neighbour James Bailey. Recently, it was revealed that Carl is actually Debbie's son, with the truth emerging as she took the blame for a horror crash in January that caused the death of vicar Billy Mayhew.
After going to prison for Carl's crime, Debbie saw his true colours and sent him packing. However, Carl's exit was disrupted when he tampered with Kevin's car brakes for revenge, only to end up close to death himself. Tyrone Dobbs accidentally knocked the car jack, leaving the vehicle crushing Carl. Ronnie Bailey helped Tyrone cover the incident, taking Carl to the hospital where he flatlined and was revived, leading Debbie to have a change of heart.
Recent Developments
Carl later engaged in a gun-wielding confrontation with Kevin. The weapon, obtained from Fiona Morley, fired during a tussle, but the pair decided to end their feud, with Carl vowing to be a better man. During Monday's (July 6) episode, Carl acted on this promise after hearing about Abi's son Alfie being rushed to hospital with breathing difficulties.
Abi took Alfie to hospital, where it was revealed they had been living around mould in their flat. Landlord Idris Nazir, recently discovered by Abi, roped teenager Brody Michaelis into repairs. While taking moisture readings, Idris panicked at the findings and went to the hospital, unaware Carl had already discovered the likely cause of Alfie's illness.
