Cruz Beckham is set to release a debut EP titled 'Wear & Tear' on August 21, featuring six tracks including a song rumoured to be about his estranged brother Brooklyn. The EP also includes a cover of his mother Victoria Beckham's Spice Girls hit 'Wannabe' to mark its 30th anniversary.
Track Details and Rumoured Family Rift
The EP includes the ballad 'Loneliest Boy', which Cruz has been performing live on tour. The song features the memorable line, "don't crush all your friends," and raw lyrics that appear to reference the family rift with Brooklyn. During performances in London earlier this year, Cruz was visibly upset while singing it and had to be consoled by his bandmates. The lyrics go: "Loneliest boy, mama don't talk too much, it's breaking her heart / It shows in the small things that you don't do. I guess in the end that it's you, yourself, and you / Tell me how do you live, when you've got nobody to lose?"
Parental Support and Emotional Performances
David and Victoria Beckham attended a London show in March and appeared emotional when Cruz performed 'Loneliest Boy'. The EP, recorded with his band The Breakers, also features the title track 'Wear & Tear', which has been released alongside a new video to build anticipation.
Cruz's Statement on the EP
Speaking about the single and EP, Cruz said: “Wear & Tear is synonymous to a life lived and all your life experiences so far - the good and the bad, the learning curves, and everything in between. No matter how different every human experience is, we all have had at least a few similar emotions that make us all human. We’ve been high, and low, in love and in pain, jealous, upset - we’ve lived and learned. We’ve all got our wear and tear.”
Upcoming Tour and Festival Appearances
The EP was crafted with live shows in mind, ahead of Cruz’s inaugural US tour this summer. He is also scheduled to perform at festivals including Reading & Leeds, Rock N Roll Circus, and Lollapalooza.
