Diane Keaton's Health Declined Rapidly in Final Months, Friends Reveal

Diane Keaton's health deteriorated suddenly in the months before her death, according to sources close to the Oscar-winning actress. The Hollywood legend, known for roles in Annie Hall, The Godfather, and Something's Gotta Give, died on October 11 at the age of 79. Her family confirmed the news in a statement, requesting privacy and providing no details on the cause of death.

An unnamed friend told People magazine that Keaton's decline caught loved ones off guard. “She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her,” the source said. “It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.” The friend added that in her final months, Keaton was surrounded only by her closest family, who kept matters private. “Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”

Another source said Keaton retained her sense of humour until the end. “In these last few years, she kept a close circle and she liked it that way,” the source said. “She was funny right up until the end and she had this way of making even ordinary moments feel special. That was just who she was.”
