Dove Cameron Reveals Intimate Proposal Details on Fallon Show
Dove Cameron Shares Romantic Proposal Story on TV

Dove Cameron has broken her silence regarding her recent engagement to Italian singer Damiano David, offering a heartfelt glimpse into their romantic journey during a candid appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. The 30-year-old actress, who first sparked engagement rumours last autumn, shared intimate details about the proposal that occurred in October of last year, though the couple chose to publicly confirm their engagement on social media after welcoming the new year in 2026.

The Ring and the Revelation

As she recounted the story to Fallon and the live audience, Cameron proudly displayed a dazzling diamond sparkler on her ring finger. She revealed that David, the lead vocalist of the rock band Måneskin, played a personal role in designing the exquisite piece of jewellery himself. 'He did such a beautiful job. He helped design it so I feel especially touched, and it's so perfect,' she gushed with evident emotion.

When questioned by the talk show host about whether she had any prior inkling of the proposal plans, Cameron confirmed that she was aware it was coming. 'He was like, "I'm designing the ring." And then he was like, "The ring is done." So, I knew,' the actress admitted with a laugh. Fallon humorously responded, 'So, any day now this could happen. You let me know when you're ready, bud!'

A Proposal Far From Glamorous

Despite having some advance knowledge, Cameron expressed that she did not know the exact timing of the special moment. 'Every step of the way I didn't know how close we were or how far we were, right? But I just knew that this was coming,' she explained. Her close friends had advised her to always have her nails perfectly manicured and to wear white daily, just in case the proposal occurred unexpectedly.

However, when David finally decided to pop the question, the star was far from prepared. 'It was a day that I like never could have projected. We were packing, and I'm the worst version of myself when I'm packing,' she told Fallon. Cameron recalled being dressed in an oversized shirt with 'no makeup' and her hair 'still kind of wet from the shower.'

At one point, as she was 'running around like a little creature inside our house,' David crossed his arms, watched her with a loving smile, and she immediately sensed what was about to happen. 'I was so prepared until literally right now,' she said. 'And so, I ran into the other room panicking. Should I do my nails? Like, what do I do? I gotta be ready.'

The Intimate Moment at Home

After her 'brain broke in half,' Cameron eventually went out to meet David in the living room. The Italian singer, holding something in his hand, delivered a poignant speech. 'I know that some girls want rose petals. I know you were maybe expecting something big,' he began. 'But our life is so big and it's so – and it's full of so many public highs that there's no romance in that for us anymore. And so I wanted to do this here in our home because I want dishes, I want laundry, I want baking foods together.'

He continued, 'I want you in your big T-shirt. And this is the life that I choose and I hope you choose the same. Will you marry me?' Fallon enthusiastically yelled, 'Come on!' as Cameron concluded the proposal story, with the crowd cheering and applauding in response. 'I cried so much,' she admitted, confirming that the proposal indeed took place last October.

Delayed Announcement and Public Appearances

Engagement speculation initially ignited in October when Cameron was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her finger during a trip to Sydney with David. 'So, we announced it really late because we wanted to do it after everything quieted down,' the actress further explained regarding their decision to delay the public confirmation.

A few weeks earlier in January, Cameron took to her main Instagram page to officially announce the news, sharing a series of sweet snaps with David and giving her followers a closer look at the ring. In the caption, she penned, 'my favourite part of being alive happy new year.'

The couple were first romantically linked in September 2023 and made their red carpet debut as a pair the following year. They have since attended numerous public events together, including the 2024 Met Gala and a Los Angeles Lakers game. In a previous interview with Cosmopolitan, Cameron opened up about her relationship, describing David as 'a 1950s gentleman, angel, teddy bear' and 'the best person I've met in my life.'

Career Moves and Future Plans

Alongside celebrating this significant personal milestone, Dove Cameron has been actively promoting her latest professional venture. She stars in the upcoming Amazon thriller series 56 Days, an eight-episode project set to premiere on February 18. The series also features actors Avan Jogia and Megan Peta Hill, marking an exciting new chapter in her acting career.

This engagement story highlights a beautiful blend of Hollywood romance and genuine, everyday intimacy, showcasing a couple who values private moments amidst their very public lives.
