Mum 'Offended' After Family Left Speechless by Baby Name Reveal at Shower

A mother-to-be has been left 'offended' after her family and friends were left speechless when she revealed her baby's name at a baby shower. The couple had opted for a 'burner cake', where the top layer is burned away to reveal a name underneath. When the cake was unveiled, guests saw the name 'Tihyrs'.

According to a friend who attended the party, many guests were 'confused' and some even apologised to the mum on behalf of the cake company, assuming it must have been a typo. The friend wrote on Reddit: 'Everyone's reaction was rather comical, lots of groans and confused muttering from the elder guests. The rest of the party was really uncomfortable and weird for the expecting parents as everyone was coming up to apologise for the baker's terrible spelling/typo.'

The friend added: 'My friend laughed it off but I could tell she was offended by it. She'd been bragging about how she has the "perfect, unique name that no other child will have". Yeah, probably because no child would want it.'

Commenters on the post were equally baffled by the name, with many speculating on how it should be pronounced. 'Tyrese' was the most popular suggestion. One person said: 'I couldn't be happier that she decided to reveal the name at this party… hopefully this keeps her from naming her baby a name that is really unpronounceable. The universe wins this one.' Another added: 'Sounds like a medical term, like an irritation of some sort.'
