Shaun Weiss Offers Help to Homeless Ex-Nickelodeon Star Tylor Chase
Ex-Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss offers help to Tylor Chase

In a powerful act of solidarity, former child star Shaun Weiss has publicly reached out to help Tylor Chase, a fellow actor who has been seen living on the streets of Los Angeles. Weiss, who famously played Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks, knows all too well the struggles Chase is facing, having battled his own homelessness and addiction issues just a few years ago.

A Viral Plea for Help

The call to action came on Monday, when Weiss posted a video on Instagram. He revealed he had been inundated with messages from concerned fans after a heartbreaking video of Chase, who played Martin Qwerly on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide in the early 2000s, went viral online. The 36-year-old actor is believed to be still roaming areas of Los Angeles.

"I reached out to some friends of mine and we have a bed for him at a detox and we have a place for him to go and get long-term treatment," Weiss stated in the recording. He credited his friend Mike Jordan at the facility 1111 Recovery for securing the spot. Weiss, 47, emphasised that the immediate challenge is locating Chase, as he is not currently in Los Angeles to search himself.

From Personal Struggle to Public Support

Weiss's offer is deeply personal. In 2020, a video of him at his lowest point during his substance abuse battle also circulated online, which ultimately led him to seek professional help. His journey from that dark period to recovery now fuels his desire to assist others in similar situations.

In his Instagram caption, he reiterated the urgent message: "We have a bed for him at a detox. We just gotta find him." He shared tips that Chase might be in the La Sierra area of Riverside and encouraged followers who might see him to attempt a compassionate, face-to-face approach. "Please DM me so we can get him some help in time for the holiday," he urged.

Co-Stars React with Shock and Sadness

The viral video of Chase has sent shockwaves through his former professional circle. On the Ned's Declassified Podcast Survival Guide, his co-stars Devon Werkheiser, Daniel Curtis Lee, and Lindsey Shaw addressed the distressing news.

Daniel Curtis Lee described receiving the news as "a lot to process" and called the footage "scary." He expressed initial anger at someone filming a person in distress, but then felt a sense of powerlessness. "I fully believe that he can recover, but that's also wishful thinking from me," Lee said, adding his desire to connect with Chase but not wanting to "put him on the spot."

Meanwhile, Weiss's public plea has been met with an outpouring of support online. Fans praised his compassion, with one commenting, "I was so hoping another child star would come to help!" Another added, "That’s is awesome of you. If we can help in anyway aside from trying to find him let us know."
