Gordon Ramsay has admitted he is “secretly petrified” about becoming a grandfather for the first time, following the announcement that his daughter Holly, 26, and her husband, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, 31, are expecting a baby girl in December.
Ramsay's Candid Reaction on Netflix Show
Speaking on the Netflix programme The Rest Is Football, Ramsay responded to host Gary Lineker’s comment that they both were about to become grandparents. “How exciting is that?!” Ramsay exclaimed, before adding: “I am secretly petrified because until they can talk and communicate with you, you can't do much, we're not going to f***ing breastfeed, are we?”
The celebrity chef had earlier commented on Holly and Peaty’s social media announcement: “Congratulations to you both sending lots of love Dad. I'm going to be a very over excited Grandad especially this Christmas.”
Family Tensions Emerge
While Gordon and his wife Tana were aware of the pregnancy news in advance, Peaty’s estranged mother, Caroline, reportedly learned of the announcement through a “brief formal text” while abroad, according to a source speaking to the Mail. The source said: “Caroline was on holiday. She received a very formal text. We don't want to divulge the content, but it was brief and to the point. It was sent as Holly posted the news on Instagram. There was no happy gathering, no phone call, just a brief mobile message.”
This follows a reported family feud after Peaty uninvited his family from attending his and Holly’s wedding at Bath Abbey on December 27, 2025, with only his sister Bethany serving as a bridesmaid.
Ramsay Dismisses Bullying Claims
Reports of the rift escalated when Caroline claimed she was not invited to Holly’s hen party, with The Sun reporting that Peaty’s parents described Gordon as “a big bully” who had “pushed them too far.” Ramsay dismissed the allegations as “absolute nonsense,” telling the newspaper: “I’m certainly not a bully. I think when you send personal chauffeur cars up to Nottingham to invite this incredible family down to enjoy their party – by the way Holly and Adam were hosting that party, Caroline and Mark (Peaty’s parents), Tana and I were guests – (it’s) appalling to even suggest there was any bullying. That’s absolute nonsense. Secondly, opening up my door, welcoming them into the family, at the end of the day there was a lot of friction going on before all that and so there was some stuff that they needed to sort it out, and so it was sad to see that barrage of negativity that was self-propelled by them.”

Holly and Adam met through her sister Tilly when Peaty took part in the BBC dancing programme Strictly Come Dancing in 2021. The couple announced their engagement in September 2024 after Adam proposed while they were on holiday in Crete.
