Heidi Range Denies Sugababes Rift Nearly 14 Years After Exit

Heidi Range has dismissed rumours of a rift with her former Sugababes bandmates, nearly 14 years after leaving the group. The 41-year-old singer, who will perform solo for the first time at a Christmas charity concert for Childline on December 10, said she no longer dwells on 'silly things' from her youth and is focused on her health and family.

Speculation about a feud arose in 2022 when the original Sugababes lineup—Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, and Siobhan Donaghy—reformed. Range had replaced Donaghy in 2001. However, she insists there is no bad blood, telling the press: 'I look back on the career I have with the band and I feel really proud of what we achieved.'

Since leaving the band in 2011, Range has performed in West End theatre, married Alex Partakis, and raised daughters Aurelia, six, and Athena, three. She admitted missing singing during rehearsals but not the touring lifestyle: 'I was on the road for 11 years. I lived out of a suitcase, and I love that I'm at home with my babies now.'

Range, a self-confessed 'Christmas nut', is preparing to decorate her Fulham home with extensive decorations stored in a double garage. She shared a humorous anecdote about her eldest daughter singing Sugababes hit 'About You Now' in a Sainsbury's queue, joking: 'I thought, I don't want people thinking I'm getting my child to sing my songs for the attention.'

The singer has been an NSPCC campaigner for over two years, a cause that resonates deeply since becoming a mother. She credited her mother and grandmother, Vera, as strong influences, recalling how Vera would distribute leftover Marks & Spencer food to homeless shelters. At Vera's funeral, some of those helped attended, a testament to her lasting impact.
