James May Criticises Clarkson's Farm Restaurant as 'Dreadful'

James May has described Jeremy Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm restaurant as 'dreadful', in a recent interview. The former Top Gear presenter, 59, made the comment while discussing his on-screen rival's farming venture.

When asked if he would rather spend a day working on Clarkson's farm or at Richard Hammond's car workshop, May quickly chose the latter. 'I think it would have to be Hammond's car workshop because I've got some idea what I'm doing, whereas farming I don't know anything about,' he said. 'In my view, it's just big gardening, which I don't really like.'

The interview, conducted ahead of the release of The Grand Tour: A Scandi Flick, also saw May and Hammond play a game of 'would you rather'. Both chose to spend two days in a dark room rather than listen to Clarkson talk about farming for two hours. 'I would quite enjoy being in a dark room for two days,' May said. 'I could do quite a lot of constructive thinking.'

Despite the jibes, May acknowledged the trio's working relationship. 'We are first and foremost work colleagues with a job,' he said, when asked about continuing The Grand Tour. The new special, which features a crash that left May with a broken rib, is released on Prime Video on 16 September.
