The 34-year-old star shared snapshots from her family's Christmas celebrations on Thursday, which included images of a brand-new red ATV purchased for her 17-year-old daughter, Maddie. The gift was presented with a large red bow and a personalised name tag.
This present carries significant emotional weight for the family. In February 2017, when Maddie was just eight years old, she was involved in a severe ATV accident on the family's property in Louisiana. The vehicle flipped and she nearly drowned in a pond before being airlifted to the Children's Hospital New Orleans.
Maddie spent five days in hospital recovering from her injuries, eventually making a full recovery. The incident was a traumatic ordeal for the entire family.
Maddie's Ironic Reaction and Past Revelations
The high school senior, now on the cusp of adulthood, responded to her mother's gift with a touch of dark humour. Commenting on the Instagram post, Maddie wrote, 'Wow you did me so dirty,' a remark that garnered dozens of likes from followers.
Jamie Lynn played along with the jest, replying, 'I can’t win here.' This exchange highlights the family's ability to find lightness in a subject that was once a source of immense fear.
In August of this year, Maddie opened up about the life-altering event on her YouTube channel. 'I was in a coma, and I came back to life, and I'm very blessed,' she stated in a video. She described herself as 'very accident-prone' but was quick to defend her parents, adding, 'I swear my parents are amazing and they did not do anything to me!'
Following the 2017 accident, it was revealed by TMZ that the manufacturers of the Polaris RZR 170 model restricted operation to those over ten years old, meaning it was not legal for Maddie to have been driving it at the time.
