Jennifer Lopez has admitted she has been crying for months as her teenage twins, Max and Emme, prepare to leave home for university. The singer became emotional while discussing their upcoming move during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
Lopez shares the 18-year-olds with former husband Marc Anthony. The twins attended different schools and will also head to different colleges, though Lopez said she fully supports their plans. 'I want them to be happy. Go where they want to go, do what they want to do,' she told Kimmel.
For most of the past year, Lopez believed she would cope well with the idea of her children moving out. Friends warned her it would be difficult, but she insisted she wanted them to pursue their ambitions. That confidence lasted until she was asked to write messages for a school yearbook, a task that took her two days because she kept breaking down in tears.
Lopez plans to help the twins move into their dorms despite the attention she attracts. She said there will be little last-minute preparation as the twins already have everything they need. Reflecting on her own late teens, Lopez said she understood their eagerness to leave, but joked they might find their dorm rooms smaller than expected and start missing home.
