Josie Gibson, the 41-year-old This Morning presenter, has revealed the straightforward approach behind her impressive 5 stone (31kg) weight loss over six months. In her book, The Josie Gibson Diet, she credits moving more, eating less, and educating herself about food, emphasising she did not undergo gastric surgery.
Gibson’s lifestyle changes began after the birth of her son Reggie in 2018. She cut out refined sugars entirely, opting for natural sugars from fruit. However, she admitted that being too strict was unsustainable, so she allowed one cheat meal per week on her six-day plan, cautioning against undoing hard work with a full-day binge.
Intermittent fasting also played a role, with Gibson following an eight-hour eating window. While this method has benefits, nutritionist Louise Pyne warned it is not a “magic bullet” and may lead to overeating on non-fasting days, as some studies have shown.
Gibson’s new ITV programme, How to Clean Up for Cash, airs on April 13 at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX. The show sees her go undercover in cluttered homes, selling selected items on behalf of unsuspecting homeowners.
