Kate Cassidy has admitted she "hates" being single, just days after her new partner ended their relationship because she kept comparing him to her late ex, Liam Payne. The 27-year-old influencer shared her heartbreak in a candid TikTok video, explaining the difficulty of dating after losing someone she thought she would spend her life with.
Breakup Announcement and Emotional Confession
On Tuesday, Kate announced the breakup on TikTok, telling her 1.8 million followers: "I got dumped you guys. I have been super MIA on here about my updated dating situation, that is because I recently met someone." She described the new relationship as moving "super fast," a tendency she acknowledged she has. The man, whom she referred to as "Joe," was "really sweet and a lot of things I wanted in a guy." He had no social media, which she appreciated, and she had already met his family and gone on trips with him.
However, Kate confessed: "But I f***ed up." The romance came just a year and eight months after Liam Payne's death in October 2024. She explained: "Dating after losing somebody that you genuinely thought you were going to spend the rest of your life with is really tough because I physically look for Liam in every single guy that I meet."
Comparing Every Partner to Liam
Kate detailed how the comparison affected her behavior: "If they don’t hit all the checkmarks I tend to, either back away or almost resent this person, and it’s so crazy." She admitted to getting angry with Joe during moments when she thought of Liam. "I would physically get like ‘oh well Liam would do this so why aren’t you doing this?’ Or he would do something and I would be like, ‘Liam would never do that’," she said.
Joe eventually texted her to end things, saying it was "just too much." Kate said: "I feel sad because I don’t like losing people and I feel like especially in the beginning of a situationship it’s so fun and you’re so excited to see where it goes."
Coping with the Aftermath
Amid the breakup, Kate has been on a girls' holiday to Montauk, New York. On Friday, she shared a series of bikini pictures on Instagram, captioning one with a "fake smile." She also posted a TikTok video where she said she "hates being single."
Kate's openness about her grief and dating struggles has resonated with fans, highlighting the challenges of moving on after a significant loss.
