Kelly Brook has appealed to I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! viewers to embrace her natural figure, following online trolling about her appearance after arriving in Brisbane. The 46-year-old former model and TV presenter, who will soon strip off for the famous Jungle shower, said she hopes people will be “accepting” of how she looks now.
“Obviously, I am not a 20-year-old bikini model anymore,” Brook said. “Life changes and your body changes. I just hope people are accepting of me and how I look now, and not comparing me to how I used to look.” She added that she feels confident and has embraced her curves, noting that she ran a marathon this year and is proud of her fitness.
Brook has faced criticism over her figure for years, but has consistently defended her size 12 frame. “I’m a healthy size 12. I’m not apologising for having boobs and a bum,” she previously stated. She has packed “plenty of swimsuits” for the Jungle shower and discussed the experience with Myleene Klass, whose iconic 2006 shower moment in a white bikini became legendary. Klass advised her to ensure she had an appropriate swimsuit.
The star admitted the toughest part of the show will be separation from her husband, Jeremy Parisi, 40. “That is what is really quite frightening,” she said. “We have been together 10 years… we do pretty much everything together.” She hopes the challenge will test her independence, having relied heavily on him during their appearance on Race Across the World.
Brook has sought advice from former campmates including Oti Mabuse, Jane Moore, and Chris Moyles. Moyles jokingly suggested sneaking in a microwave, while Moore advised keeping busy with cleaning. Brook also fears the jungle’s creepy-crawlies, particularly spiders in the dunny and leeches, after Moore showed her a photo of a leech that fed on her breast overnight.
Despite her nerves, Brook is looking forward to the experience. “I have never, ever been in the middle of a jungle, sleeping under the stars,” she said. “I think it is going to be probably the most challenging thing I have ever done in my life… I have heard that it is life changing.” She will turn 47 while in camp and celebrated early with her Heart Radio colleagues.
