Nicole Kidman Reflects on Early Career Confession and Mother's Advice

Nicole Kidman, 57, has recalled a cheeky confession she made at the start of her career, joking that she still enjoys the romantic aspects of acting. The comment came during a Good Morning America interview promoting her new film 'Babygirl', in which she plays a CEO having an affair with a young intern.

Veteran journalist Chris Connelly reminded Kidman of a conversation they had nearly 33 years ago, when she said she liked acting because 'you get to meet boys and you get to kiss boys on stage'. After rolling her eyes at her younger self, she quipped: 'Still doing that!'

The Oscar-winning actress also credited her late mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, for encouraging her to continue working after the birth of her first daughter, Sunday Rose, in 2008. Kidman said she was ready to leave Hollywood, but her mother advised: 'Keep your finger in the pie a little bit, don't give it up completely.'

Kidman, who is married to country singer Keith Urban, 57, said she still hears her mother's voice but wishes she were still physically present. Since following her mother's advice, Kidman has been nominated for three more Oscars, won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes, and received an AFI Life Achievement Award.
