L'Olivetto, an Italian restaurant on Rose Lane in Mossley Hill, has closed its doors for the final time after 12 years of operation. The restaurant, run by Kevin and Shoonagh De La Cruz, had become a fixture for families across south Liverpool and beyond, serving pizza, pasta, and popular Sunday roasts.
Decision to close
In a post shared on Instagram on June 1, the owners confirmed they were set to close their doors. They said the decision was difficult but felt it was the right time to step back from restaurant life and spend more time with their young son, Oisín. The restaurant thanked customers, staff, friends, and suppliers for their support, loyalty, and the memories shared over the years, describing the restaurant as a family and community as much as a business.
Final day and heartfelt farewell
On June 28, L'Olivetto thanked customers and its community once again as it closed for the final time. A post shared on Instagram said: "Today, we close our doors after 12 incredible years. It’s a bittersweet day, but our hearts are full of gratitude. To every customer who walked through our doors, thank you. Many of you started as customers, but over the years you’ve become friends, and for some, even family. Your loyalty, kindness and support have meant more to us than words can ever express."
L’Olivetto has been so much more than a restaurant. It’s where memories were made, birthdays celebrated, anniversaries marked, friendships formed and countless laughs were shared. It was also where we experienced one of the greatest moments of our lives—welcoming our beautiful son, Oisín, into the world. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives, just as you’ve become such a special part of ours.
Community support
The closure was met with waves of support from customers and the local community who wished the family well on their next endeavours.
