Love Island star Namibia Olpherts has broken her silence on her time in the villa, slamming a fellow female contestant for allegedly being on the show solely for fame. Namibia, who was dumped from the ITV2 show on Friday, June 19, alongside Sam Workman, took to TikTok live on Wednesday, June 24, to share her unfiltered thoughts.
Namibia's Accusations on TikTok Live
During the live session, a fan asked Namibia which male and female Islander she believed were only there for fame. Struggling to answer, she said: "I don’t even want to answer this because I just feel like she’s getting hit after hit after hit. But I think it would be Priya." She added: "I don’t even think it would be a fame thing, she’s just a big fan of it so she knows a lot about it. I think from all of our points of view, ‘you’re such a big fan’. Do you get where I’m coming from?"
Namibia continued: "It’s like, ‘you know how this works’, more than any of us. Not necessarily she knows what to do but she’s a lovely girl. There was loads of things that she knew. And I was like, 'How do you know that?'"
Fan Reactions and Defense of Priya
Fans quickly reacted to the clip. One user commented: "Everyone is in it for fame," while another defended Priya, saying: "Priya is the most mature and kind girl in the villa. She’s been wronged so hard and she’s this year’s Lucinda." A third fumed: "Everyone is a fan of it though everyone loves to jump on this Priya bandwagon. At least she is real."
Previous Criticism from Other Dumped Islander
Priya has faced criticism from other contestants as well. Victoria Onanusi, another dumped Islander, slammed Priya on the podcast side show of the reality series. Victoria said: "I think Priya says she’s a girl’s girl but she’s not really 100% a girl’s girl. I don’t know, I like her but I wouldn’t call her my best friend or my friend or anything. She’s just very passive aggressive really."
Namibia's comments have added fuel to the ongoing debate about contestants' motivations on the show.
