Meghan Markle’s Marriage Advice to Australian Bride-to-Be

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, offered candid marriage advice to a bride-to-be named Ellie during a recent tour of Australia. The 44-year-old was photographed speaking with Ellie, wishing her “a lifetime of love” as she prepared to marry. Meghan, who has been married to Prince Harry for nearly eight years, said: “I just wanted to say congratulations on your wedding. Enjoy the wedding, but it's more about the marriage... Sending you love all over the world. Your dad is awesome.”

The sweet moment took place during Meghan and Harry’s four-day trip to Australia, which included a visit to Bondi Beach in Sydney. The Duchess has been praised on social media for the gesture, with one fan commenting: “This is a nice thing to say... She made some random lady's day, made her dad feel special.” Another wrote: “That was the cutest greeting.”

Meghan met Harry ten years ago through a mutual friend while she was in London for Wimbledon. They began dating in 2016, two years after her divorce from film producer Trevor Engelson. The couple married in May 2018 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in a ceremony watched by more than 27 million people. They have two children: Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

In 2020, Meghan and Harry stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States, settling in Montecito, California. They have since signed major media deals and appeared in high-profile interviews. The couple will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary on May 19. Meghan recently revealed in her Netflix series With Love, Meghan that she and Harry first said “I love you” on their third date during a camping trip to Botswana.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Bondi Beach on the final day of their 2026 Australia tour to meet first responders and survivors of the December 2025 Bondi Beach terror attack, along with representatives of the Sydney Jewish Museum.
