Mel B Dismisses Spice Girls Reunion Speculation for 30th Anniversary
Melanie Brown, known globally as Mel B or Scary Spice, has categorically denied that the iconic Spice Girls are planning any form of comeback to mark their upcoming 30th anniversary. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail at a promotional event for Revive Collagen, where she was unveiled as the brand's new global ambassador, the 50-year-old star quashed persistent rumours that have circulated for months.
'Nothing's Happening' Says Mel B on Reunion Plans
'Well, I'm always saying there's gonna be a reunion. I'm always the one going, "Yes, it will happen! I'm gonna will it to happen!" But nothing's happening,' Mel B stated emphatically. When probed about the possibility of a reduced lineup reunion, perhaps as a trio similar to Nicole Scherzinger's approach with the Pussycat Dolls, Mel B appeared distinctly unenthusiastic.
'I don't know about that. I mean, there's five Spice Girls. You know what I mean?' she remarked, before adding, 'I would love to go on tour no matter what, but... I'm gonna go and see the Pussycat Dolls. I love them!'
Mel C Echoes Sentiment as Netflix Project Reportedly Cancelled
Mel B is not the first member of the group to pour cold water on reunion speculation. Fellow Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm, or Mel C, recently stressed that there are absolutely no plans for a 30th anniversary comeback. This comes despite earlier reports suggesting the group had been negotiating a potential reunion agreement last year.
'We are communicating all the time. We want to do something. Who knows when, but I still feel very optimistic and I keep my fingers crossed that you will see the Spice Girls together at some point in the future,' Mel C told Australia's The Smallzy Show, offering a glimmer of hope for fans while confirming no immediate plans.
These denials follow reports that a planned Netflix documentary project to celebrate the group's anniversary has also been shelved. Sources indicated that Geri Halliwell, in particular, had been hesitant to commit to signing on for the project.
Mel B's Focus: AGT and Empowering Women Through Menopause Advocacy
With the Spice Girls reunion firmly off the table for now, Mel B is channelling her energy into her role as a judge on America's Got Talent and her significant new position as the global ambassador for Revive Collagen. Her partnership with the brand is deeply personal, centred on promoting their new collagen menopause range after her own challenging experience with menopause.
'Women are gonna go through menopause no matter what. It can start in their thirties. They can still be going through it when they're 60,' Mel B explained. 'So I'm 50, and when I turned 50, I started getting all these hot sweats, my hair started thinning. I got anxiety.'
She connected this to her past, stating, 'I was in a 10 year very coercive, abusive marriage. So coming out of that, I had a lot of anxiety and a lot of stress and worry, and then bam, I was hit with menopause and I'm like, "Why is nobody talking about this?"'
Mel B passionately advocates for open discussion, highlighting severe impacts: 'Women are committing suicide. Women are divorcing their husbands. Women feel like they're losing their minds. They're being put on antidepressants. They're being put on anti-anxiety [medication] when it's just menopause. I mean, it's not JUST menopause, but going through menopause is a huge thing.'
'It starts to drive you mad so I can understand why some women don't wanna really talk about it because it's embarrassing, but every woman's going through it, or they're gonna be going through it, and I'm all about empowering women from being in the Spice Girls,' she affirmed. After personally testing Revive Collagen's products for two months, she insists they have helped alleviate some of her symptoms.
Star-Studded Launch for Revive Collagen Partnership
Mel B celebrated her new ambassadorial role at a lavish launch party held at Soho House Holloway in West Hollywood. The event attracted a host of celebrities, showcasing the brand's growing prestige.
- Actress Gabourey Sidibe
- TV host Kamie Crawford
- Girlicious singer Natalie Mejia
- Olympic athlete Alysha Newman
- Actress Paige Mobley
Mel B herself made a striking appearance in a sparkling silver miniskirt and matching crop top. The brand, Revive Collagen, was founded by former TOWIE star Samantha Faiers alongside business manager John Bailey in August 2020. It has rapidly become Europe's fastest-growing collagen brand, known for its ready-to-drink liquid supplements. Prior to Mel B, the brand had enlisted English media personality Amanda Holden and celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton.
Current Endeavours: America's Got Talent and Beyond
Concurrently, Mel B remains a prominent figure on television as a judge on America's Got Talent. She returned for the show's 20th season last year and is currently engaged in filming for the upcoming 21st season, ensuring her schedule remains packed despite the absence of Spice Girls reunion activities.
