Hollyoaks fans were left emotional as Dillon Ray, played by Nathaniel Dass, made a sudden exit from the Channel 4 soap after three years. The character, a mainstay since 2023, departed the village in scenes that aired recently, leaving viewers teary-eyed.
Dillon had planned to go on the run with his ex-boyfriend Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis), who is serving time in prison for attacking his father Ste (Kieron Richardson). The plan unravelled when Lucas decided to stay and serve his sentence, prompting Dillon to leave alone after a heartfelt goodbye.
Speaking about his exit, Dass said: 'It's been three years for me, and I'm absolutely gutted that every day I won't be able to come in and see everyone. I've built so many amazing relationships here, so I'm really sad about that.' He added that he is ready to explore other roles but left the door open for a potential return.
The actor, who joined the show at age 20, reflected on his growth: 'Hollyoaks has been a massive part of me growing up. I've grown up and come out with new relationships, new friendships, and I think I've just come out of it as a bit more of a better person.'
Oscar Curtis, who plays Lucas, remains on the show but is currently on a break. Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays on Channel 4's streaming platform and airs on E4 at 7pm.
