Pete Doherty and Wife Show PDA at Luxembourg Film Festival

British rock musician Pete Doherty and his filmmaker wife Katia de Vidas showcased their affection publicly during the closing ceremony of the Luxembourg Film Festival on Saturday evening. The couple, who married in September 2021 and share a two-year-old daughter named Billie-May, were photographed sharing a sweet kiss and embracing on the red carpet.

Festival Appearance and Stylish Outfits

Doherty, aged forty-seven, serves as a member of the festival's jury for the 2026 edition. He appeared in a navy pin-striped suit, layered over a shirt and tie, accessorised with a leopard print neck scarf and a wide-brimmed hat. His wife Katia opted for an effortlessly stylish mini dress paired with chunky black boots, creating a leggy display as they posed together.

Personal and Professional Partnership

The couple's connection extends beyond their personal life, as Katia de Vidas also works as the pianist in Doherty's other band, The Puta Madres. Their appearance at the festival comes as Doherty has recently returned to touring with his Felt Better Alive Europe tour earlier this year.

Health Update and Diabetes Scare

In a significant health revelation, Doherty disclosed that he faced a serious scare earlier this year related to his Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. He revealed in March that he was at risk of having his toes amputated after developing sores on his feet, with two toes turning black in January.

"It was touch and go," Doherty told The Times regarding the possibility of losing his feet, having experienced loss of feeling in them. He explained that high blood sugar levels from diabetes can damage blood vessels, affecting blood flow to the feet and legs, leading to such complications.

Lifestyle Changes and Recovery

Doherty described the health scare as "a real wake-up call" that prompted significant lifestyle adjustments. He has dramatically reduced his alcohol consumption, now allowing himself just one gin and tonic per week, and has managed to bring his blood sugar levels to a healthier range.

"Now I allow myself a gin and tonic once a week, but I've basically not been drinking and have got my blood sugar to a good level, so my toes are healing," Doherty stated in a video obtained by The Sun during his Munich gig.

Historical Health Struggles

The artist has been candid about his health challenges over the years, previously telling documentary maker Louis Theroux in 2023 that he felt "death was lurking" due to the toll of past drug and alcohol abuse. He described himself as "a very sick man" who had "battered" his body through substance use.

Doherty's openness about his journey from heroin, crack cocaine, and alcohol abuse to his current focus on managing diabetes through dietary changes represents a significant personal transformation. The festival appearance with his wife marks both a professional commitment and a celebration of his ongoing health recovery.
