Prince Harry attended a film premiere in central London just hours after arriving in the United Kingdom on Monday night. The Duke of Sussex was photographed in the VIP arrivals section at the 'Shoot The People' UK Premiere at Picturehouse Central, supporting his friend Misan Harriman, the chairman of the Southbank Centre, who has recently been at the centre of controversy.
Harry's Support for Misan Harriman
Harry posed alongside Harriman for photos at the event. Harriman, a close friend of Harry and Meghan Markle, famously photographed the couple's announcement that they were expecting their daughter Lilibet in 2021. He also captured Lilibet on her first birthday at Frogmore Cottage. However, Harriman announced last month that he would step back from his role at the Southbank Centre after making remarks online, including a claim that news outlets omitted a Muslim victim from coverage of attacks in Golders Green. In May, he was also accused of comparing Reform UK's local election success with the Holocaust.
Arrival and Accommodation Issues
Harry arrived in the UK without his wife Meghan Markle or their children, Archie and Lilibet. The trip has been fraught with obstacles, including a last-minute revocation of his offer to stay at Buckingham Palace. According to a royal source, the palace required a minimum level of notice to host a guest appropriately, and Harry reportedly left it to the last minute to accept the offer. A spokesperson for Harry said on Monday morning that he had accepted the offer, but the palace later stated the accommodation was no longer available. Buckingham Palace has 240 bedrooms, with 52 reserved for royals and their guests, and requires staff and security when a royal family member stays. Harry now plans to stay in private accommodation at an undisclosed location.
Upcoming Invictus Games Event
Harry's visit to the UK also includes a trip to Birmingham later this week to attend an event marking the official one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. It is not known which airport Harry arrived at or where he is staying during his trip.
