Prince William made a surprise appearance in West London on Tuesday, just minutes after Prince Harry discovered that he had lost his unlawful information-gathering lawsuit against the Daily Mail’s publisher, Associated Newspapers Ltd (ANL). Just moments before, it was confirmed that Prince Harry, along with other high-profile claimants, including Sir Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, had had all of their claims dismissed by the High Court.
School Visit to Support Team Wales
The Prince of Wales visited Ysgol Gymraeg Llundain (The London Welsh School) in Hanwell to join pupils in sending their best wishes to Team Wales ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. The Games will take place between July 23 and August 2 and will feature 10 sports and six para-sports, with events held at venues across Glasgow.
Ahead of the Games, The Prince will meet a number of Team Wales athletes, who will have recently received their official team kit. Team Wales will travel to Glasgow with a squad of 114 athletes, including 67 women and 47 men, aged 16 to 73.
Unique Welsh School in London
Founded in 1958, Ysgol Gymraeg Llundain is a bilingual Welsh-English primary school for children aged three to eleven. As the only Welsh-medium primary school outside of Wales and Patagonia, it plays a unique role in promoting Welsh language and culture among families living in London.
Harry’s UK Visit Overshadowed by Palace Row
William's appearance today comes one day after Harry arrived in the UK, which was overshadowed by a confusing back-and-forth over whether the Duke would stay at Buckingham Palace during the London part of his visit. It was reported on Monday morning that Prince Harry had accepted an offer; however, this claim was quickly denied. It soon became clear that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's response to the invitation had arrived too late, and as a result, the Palace said arrangements could not be made.
Hitting back, a spokesperson for the Sussexes issued a fiery statement, claiming the offer of a Palace stay was “withdrawn”. They said: "I am aware of multiple briefings from Buckingham Palace last week suggesting that the Duke had not accepted the offer of accommodation at a Royal Residence. Following RAVEC’s decision not to provide security for his family, the Duke spent last week making alternative security arrangements. Once those arrangements were in place, he was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend. It is therefore disappointing that the offer has now been withdrawn, with Tuesday’s judgment in the Associated Newspapers Limited case cited as the reason. Buckingham Palace has, however, been aware of that judgment since last Thursday. It is therefore unclear why, having formally accepted the accommodation offer, it has now been withdrawn at the last moment."
