BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James has disclosed that his father suffered a stroke during a planned heart procedure. The 40-year-old broadcaster was absent from his Breakfast show last Friday to be with his family.
In an update to listeners on Monday, James said his father is “still with us” but “fighting hard.” He added that he knew his dad would want him to return to the airwaves.
James plans to proceed with his Comic Relief challenge starting Friday, cycling 630 miles (1,000km) on a tandem bike over eight days across the UK.
