Pregnant Scarlett Moffatt Reveals Baby's Gender: Expecting Second Boy
Scarlett Moffatt Expecting Second Boy with Fiancé Scott

Scarlett Moffatt has exclusively revealed that she is expecting a second son with her fiancé Scott Dobinson. The former Gogglebox star, who already has a son named Jude with Scott, shared the delightful news just days after the family attended a gender reveal scan.

Joy Over a Brother for Jude

“I just really wanted Jude to have a bestie friend,” Scarlett said, beaming with happiness. “I was born to be a boy mum.” The 35-year-old TV personality expressed her excitement at the thought of her beloved Jude having a little brother. “All my family and friends knew I wanted another boy. Of course it would’ve been wonderful to have had a girl – a healthy baby is all that matters – but my preference was a boy, to give Jude a brother. I’m just so happy for him. He’s got someone to share his life with now.”

Scan Day with the Family

Scarlett went for the scan with Jude and Scott, and the trio held hands while the sonographer delivered the news. “We were all so excited, I couldn’t stop smiling,” she said. “We always wanted to find out the gender. I wish I could be one of those people that wait until the big day, but I can’t. I like to know where I’m at. And now it’s great because we can start thinking of names and stuff. I also think it’s helpful for Jude to call him a baby boy. He understands it more now.”

Embracing the Chaos of Boys

Scarlett is not fazed by the potential chaos of having two sons. “I like the spontaneity of boys,” she said. “That feeling of, is he gonna jump off this slide? I think I’m made for that type of danger. My friends have little girls and they’re so cute, having their little tea parties and stuff and I’m all for that… but I love the rough and tumble boys bring.”

Starting from Scratch After Miscarriage

After suffering a “soul-destroying” miscarriage with her second pregnancy last year, Scarlett admitted she considered stopping trying for more children. “I was lying in bed with Scott one day and I said, ‘I just don’t think I can handle the heartbreak any more. I think we should stop. We’ve got Jude, so let’s enjoy him,’” she recalled. As a result, she gave away her baby furniture to friends and charity shops. “The heartache, it was just too much. You put your happiness on hold every month, waiting for the pregnancy test. I just said to Scott we should stop trying. So I honestly didn’t think this was going to happen again. We still have a pram, but we got rid of everything else.”

After vowing to put less pressure on themselves, the pair were overjoyed to learn they were expecting again just three weeks later. “It was amazing. But it means when it comes to the nursery, we’re starting again – but we’re already thinking about making it fair,” Scarlett said.

Ensuring Jude Doesn’t Feel Left Out

Scarlett and Scott plan to reorganize their County Durham home so that Jude, who turns three in June, and the baby both have equal-sized sleeping spaces. “I don’t want anyone growing up worrying about favouritism,” she explained. “One thing I just love about Jude is how loving he is. But I do have a feeling that at some point he’s going to ask, ‘When is the baby going back?’ How do you explain to a little toddler that this new baby is going to be sticking around? I just have to make sure he doesn’t feel left out. I’m watching a lot of TikToks on how to stop him from feeling like that.”

Support from Family

Scarlett has a strong support network, including her parents Betty and Mark, and Scott’s parents. “Oh my God, it’s so lovely for them. Mam and Dad had two girls, so for them having boys is great. Dad’s already so excited to take them to the football. And Scott’s mum and dad are amazing too. I see where he gets his loveliness from,” she said.

Scott to Become Stay-at-Home Dad

Scarlett praised her fiancé, a former policeman whom she met more than 15 years ago. “If there’s one thing I’ve got right in this world, it’s picking Scott to be the father of my children,” she said. “He looks after us all. I’m not gonna lie, this pregnancy has been intense. I’ve been quite sick and Scott has been amazing. It’s been a lot, but I’m actually grateful. Now I know what morning sickness is like, I’ve experienced it. Yes, it’s awful, but what a privilege to get to go through it, to go through all of this again.”

Scott will take a career break for their second baby, allowing him to be at home with the children. “Scott’s going to take a bit of a career break with number two, so I feel really privileged that we get to be in a position where we all get to be together as a family. Scott will be home with them, or their grandparents, so the boys will always be with someone who loves them,” Scarlett explained.

Reflections on I’m A Celebrity

Scarlett watched herself on I’m A Celebrity: South Africa last month, which was recorded before she was pregnant. “People were asking why I was competing in tasks when I was pregnant. They couldn’t grasp that it was pre-recorded,” she said. “But watching it back I felt so strong and so proud. It’s a lot harder than it looks.” She also spoke about friendships from the show, including Ashley Roberts and Sir Mo Farah. “I went to Ashley Roberts’ birthday, we speak every day on the phone. Can you believe it? She’s a Pussycat Doll, she’s pretty busy and the fact she makes time for us is lovely. Sir Mo Farah is another wonderful soul. I know this sounds deep, but it genuinely changed my life meeting him. His life and how he came to England is so heartbreaking and to see the strength and positivity he has, it’s inspiring.”

Future Plans and More Children?

Scarlett took two years off work after Jude’s birth but is unsure if she’ll do the same this time. With another top secret show currently being filmed, she’s in no hurry to slow down. “This industry is fickle but I was so lucky that after being off with Jude I got the Strictly Christmas special and I’m A Celebrity. I don’t want to push my luck and take too long off this time. I might not get that lucky again,” she said.

When asked if her family will be complete with the arrival of her little boy, Scarlett replied, “Honestly? If the world allows me another one, I would be really grateful for that. I’d be thrilled if we had a load of kids. I’m so grateful for what we have, but the more the merrier!”
