Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have allegedly already said "I do" in a private ceremony, despite planning a spectacular wedding event at Madison Square Garden on July 3, according to a source. The Grammy winner, 36, and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, also 36, have organized a star-studded extravaganza at New York City's iconic arena, which is expected to close roads and cause travel disruptions over the holiday weekend.
However, while some guests may face delays or be unable to attend, they might not miss the most crucial moment, as the couple has reportedly already legally married, making the lavish celebration purely ceremonial. A source told Page Six that while the couple is hosting a major bash for 1,000 guests and a Thursday evening rehearsal dinner for 100, a smaller gathering of close loved ones was present when they exchanged vows in private.
Private Ceremony Details
"They are already married," the source insisted, reports the Mirror US. Wedding licenses in New York State are sealed, preventing public access to such information. Staff at Manhattan's City Clerk's office told the publication that no license had been signed for the pair in recent days. The small ceremony is thought to have taken place in Tennessee, where Swift made her home at age 14 as she began her music career.
According to a tracking site for Swift's private jet, the aircraft made eyebrow-raising stops on Sunday, June 28, including Tampa, Florida—where her father Scott Swift lives—and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—where Kelce's father Ed resides, along with his brother Jason and sister-in-law Kylie. The jet then returned to Nashville, where it remained until June 30, before heading back to New York City. A private ceremony in Nashville would explain why no license was filed in New York, as couples only need a license in the state where they legally marry.
Privacy Measures and Family Involvement
Should the pair have already wed, it could ease nerves ahead of their big day, for which they have gone to great lengths to safeguard privacy. This includes keeping even closest relatives on a "need to know" basis, among them Kelce's mother, Donna Kelce. "They actually haven't told Donna very much, she is just going with the flow. They're letting her know where she needs to be and when she needs to be there. They have a driver for her," a source told the Daily Mail. "That's how it is with everybody, even the people really close to them. When they get to where they need to be, they're told where they're going next. So she doesn't really know a lot about the plans, because she hasn't been told. I think that's their way of making sure that things aren't leaked. Everyone is on a 'need to know' basis."
