Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding has been branded 'ghastly and tacky' by critics after they tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at New York's Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3. The showbiz power couple said 'I do' in front of 1,000 guests, but an insider has described the day as 'chaotic' and 'tacky.'
Wedding Day Chaos
A wedding guest told the Daily Mail that the ceremony felt 'tacky' despite the couple's billionaire status. The source said: 'There were slightly chaotic scenes around the food carts with all these amazing A-listers having to stand in line. It wasn’t quite what I expected.' Champagne reportedly ran dry, and a buffet was served instead of a plated dinner.
Guests were separated into class levels from A to D, with lower-tier attendees like Cara Delevingne arriving three hours before the ceremony. The source added: 'Arrivals were staggered with people having to wait for hours with nothing to do. The cocktails only started at 4pm. People literally were twiddling their thumbs for hours.'
Security and Secrecy
All guests were required to hand over their phones before the ceremony to prevent leaks. The couple plans to send attendees a thank-you gift including a documentary of the nuptials. Despite these efforts, details emerged online. AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron allegedly posted about the event on X, describing decorations of blown-up photos of the couple from age one to late teenagehood, draped in peach and white. The post, now deleted, also mentioned long, intimate vows and a first kiss.
Lavish Prizes
The couple gave away lavish prizes in a raffle-style game, including jewelry and a car. The source noted that despite the 1,000 attendees, the event felt intimate due to the close proximity of everything.
