Sky Arts has confirmed that 'Tea With Judi Dench' is returning for a new series this summer, following the success of its debut episode. The show features Hollywood legend Dame Judi Dench, 91, hosting a guest at her Surrey home for tea and conversation. This time, she is joined by her great friend Sir Ian McKellen, 87.
What to Expect in the New Episode
The synopsis teases a warm and candid conversation covering their extraordinary lives both on stage and off. Topics include Shakespeare, stage fright, the insecurities of acting, and the worldwide fame of the Lord of the Rings and James Bond movies. They reflect on success, failure, and the importance of never taking either too seriously. Ian also speaks movingly about coming out, his defining role in the fight against Section 28, and one of his greatest regrets: never sharing the truth about himself with his parents.
Judi Dench's Excitement
Judi Dench said: "I am absolutely delighted to be returning for a second film, and even more pleased to be sharing the experience with the wonderful Sir Ian McKellen. The response to the first film was deeply touching, and it's a great privilege to continue these conversations and capture moments of great friendship."
Reception of the First Episode
The first episode, featuring Sir Kenneth Branagh, aired last year and received rave reviews. One viewer said: "Just watched Tea with Judi Dench.
