Good Morning Britain host Tom Swarbrick made his hosting debut on the ITV chat show earlier this week, stepping into the presenting seat alongside Ranvir Singh. The 39-year-old, typically seen on This Morning and Lorraine, first appeared on Good Morning Britain in March and took on hosting duties on Monday, 25 May, while regular hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls are on a break during the May half-term holiday.
Family Life Away from the Spotlight
Away from the cameras, Tom is married with children, though he chooses to keep his family life private. He has occasionally shared updates about his loved ones over the years. He has spoken about his eight-year-old daughter on This Morning and recently shared a glimpse of his son's 10th birthday party on Instagram.
New Addition: Golden Retriever Puppy
Tom recently announced that the family welcomed a new addition: a Golden Retriever puppy named Olive. Writing on Instagram, he said: "We got a puppy!!! Welcome to the family, Olive!!" This comes after the family sadly lost their beloved pet dog, Islay, in January. At the time, Tom wrote: "She was there from the start of it all. For nearly 13 years, the kindest, gentlest, most loyal dog who helped us bring up our family. We love you, Islay. Go well."
Wife's Harrowing Incident
Tom rarely discusses his wife publicly, but last year he shared his anger after she was spat on by a stranger while driving. Appearing on This Morning, he recounted: "My wife was driving our daughter through a narrow rural lane in Kent, and as she stopped to allow a driver to come through, this driver pulled up alongside her, told her to wind her window down, gestured to wind her window down. He then just gave her a volley of expletives, every effing and jeffing under the sun, and then hocked up phlegm and spat it into her face. He was coming towards her. She had pulled over to one side to let him through. They hadn't had an incident before. There was just nothing. Our daughter was in pieces, you know, absolutely terrified. She's only eight. She's eight, [she was] on the floor. This is a very rural area. There's not a lot happening around there particularly."
Tom's debut on Good Morning Britain has been praised by viewers, who have called for him to become a regular host.
