Spelling credited divine intervention for their safety, stating, "Guardian angels were definitely with us that day because in a split second I looked to my right and I saw he was coming full-on, full impact into the side of our car, and I turned hard left, as hard as I could, as fast as I could to avoid as much impact on the children as possible." She emphasized that while everyone is okay, the experience has been overwhelmingly stressful.
