Irish presenter Vogue Williams has publicly reaffirmed the strength of her marriage to husband Spencer Matthews, directly addressing persistent speculation that their relationship was in trouble.
Addressing the Rumours Head-On
In a candid new interview with The Sun, the 40-year-old media personality stated she has reached a point in her life where only 'their truth' matters, firmly stressing that she and the former Made In Chelsea star remain a very happy couple. The speculation initially ignited in June 2023 when the pair, who have been married since 2018, did not publicly mark their fifth wedding anniversary.
The rumours intensified just months later when Spencer, 37, stepped down from their joint venture, the Spencer & Vogue podcast, to focus on his own project, Untapped. Vogue recalled the public reaction, saying, 'When he left our podcast, everyone was like, "What's going on?"'.
Protecting Their Family from 'Cruel' Gossip
Vogue expressed particular concern about the impact of the gossip on their three children: Theodore, six, Gigi, four, and Otto, two. She admitted to worrying about the 'baseless and cruel' stories potentially reaching the playground, a prospect she finds deeply unsettling.
Despite having previously told fans that the pair are 'very happily married and in love', Vogue found the speculation continued unabated. When asked if her denials helped silence the rumours, she replied bluntly, 'Of course not! I’ll probably not bother next time.' She elaborated that she now considers it a waste of energy to constantly address unfounded claims.
A United Front and Moving Forward
Earlier this year, Vogue took a more direct approach by hitting back at the rumours on her own platform, Instagram. In a post that began in a joking tone, she penned, 'It’s with great sadness that I have to let you know that Spen and I are NOT breaking up!' She described the narrative as 'disappointing' and 'mean', emphasising that the couple were unsure of the source or motive behind the persistent stories.
The marriage first came under scrutiny after rumours circulated linking Spencer with Lottie Moss at Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo's wedding in May 2023. Moss has always denied anything untoward happened, stating they only 'partied together'.
While affirming their strong bond, Vogue has also been open about the realities of married life with three young children. Appearing on The Netmums Podcast, she revealed the couple struggle to find child-free time together. She explained the importance of nurturing their relationship outside of parenting, noting they try to do a couple of weekends away each year, even if one such attempt resulted in a day-long argument.
Ultimately, Vogue's message is one of defiant happiness. 'We’re happy, our relationship is solid, and we’re having a great time, our kids are happy, and that’s all that matters,' she concluded.
