Wayne Lineker has revealed that he and his brother, former England footballer Gary Lineker, have mended their relationship after a 17-year rift. The 64-year-old former party promoter said the pair now speak regularly and are closer than ever, despite their very different lifestyles.
The feud reportedly began over Gary's relationship with his ex-wife Danielle Bux, and was exacerbated when Wayne was not invited to their wedding. Wayne previously blamed Danielle for the breakdown, stating, 'In my opinion, Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother.' He also claimed he was told his then-girlfriend, model Ana Tanaka, could not attend the wedding, which he found insulting.
However, in a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Wayne said their relationship has improved significantly. 'Our relationship has progressed a lot since seeing how well I've done for them. Even my relationship with my brother is good now, and I'm very close with his children,' he said. The brothers were pictured together last year at Gary's son Harry's wedding.
Wayne, who owns the Ibiza club O Beach, is also celebrating one year of sobriety next month. He plans to reduce his time at the venue to just a few hours a day, marking a significant change from his former party-heavy lifestyle. His children and grandchildren will join him in Ibiza to mark the milestone.
