Stand-up comedian Russell Kane is mastering the art of the spontaneous getaway, juggling a hectic career with family life and impromptu 24-hour raves in Ibiza with his wife.
The 50-year-old funnyman, currently on his longest-ever tour, has disclosed that he and his wife, Lindsey Cole, have flown to the party island three times this year alone. Their secret? Turning the school run into a sprint to the airport.
The Ultimate Parental Getaway
In an exclusive interview, Kane detailed one particularly whirlwind adventure. "Me and my wife one morning dropped our daughter off at school, kissed her at the school gates and then ran to the airport," he recounted. The couple landed in Ibiza by 2pm, enjoyed a tipsy afternoon by the pool, hit a nightclub, and danced until 7am.
After a sleep-in until 2pm the following day, they were back home in the UK by 8pm, just in time for their daughter's bedtime story. "All we missed was the school run the next morning and dinner the night before when she was with her nana," Kane explained, emphasising the "guilt-free" nature of their escapades thanks to strong family support.
Secrets to a Decade-Long Marriage
Kane, who shares 10-year-old daughter Mina with his wife of 11 years, credits their enduring bond to two key factors: relentless communication and a vibrant sex life. "Lindsey and me - we're still obsessed with each other," he admitted, though he was quick to note that their life is not without its stresses, particularly with his demanding work schedule.
He passionately advocates for the importance of physical intimacy in a long-term relationship, describing the couple as living in an "intimacy recession." His solution? "Bring novelty into the bedroom." He insists that as long as there is clear consent and communication, couples should be exploring new ways to keep the spark alive.
Beyond the Stage: Quizzes and Wellness
When he's not on tour or jetting off to Ibiza, Kane is a formidable quizzer, having won Celebrity Mastermind, Beat the Chasers, and The Weakest Link. He is now teaming up with This Morning's Sian Welby to host ITV's new free-to-play quiz app, The Spin Off.
To maintain his high-energy performances and mental sharpness, the comedian adheres to a strict regimen. "I train like a boxer," he said, revealing that he exercises for 60 minutes daily while playing quiz shows in the background. His ambitions don't stop there; he dreams of becoming a Chaser on the popular ITV show and is even learning Shakespearean verse to pursue acting.
Now 50, Kane follows his own "five pillars of wellness": avoiding processed foods, regular exercise, stress minimisation, strengthening relationships, and taking evidence-based supplements. He is also unafraid to cut toxic people from his life, prioritising his small, close-knit circle of family and old friends.
Reflecting on modern comedy, Kane dismissed the impact of so-called 'woke culture', stating he believes there is more freedom of speech now than before. For him, being aware of others' experiences isn't being 'woke'—it's simply "not being ignorant."
