Love Island's Laura Whitmore Investigates Fatal Bath House Party Stabbing in New Documentary
Laura Whitmore's New Doc on Fatal Bath House Party

Former Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore is set to front a harrowing new true crime documentary investigating a teenage house party that ended in a fatal stabbing.

A Night That Turned to Tragedy

The one-off special, titled House Party Killer, will delve into the devastating events of a party in Bath, Somerset, which spiralled into a murder investigation. In 2023, three teenagers arrived at the gathering armed with so-called 'zombie knives'—large bladed weapons often associated with horror films.

A clash erupted between two groups of youths, resulting in 16-year-old Mikey Roynon sustaining a single, fatal stab wound to the neck. As the teenagers fled the scene, neighbours, police, and paramedics rushed to help, but Mikey was pronounced dead at the location.

The Investigation and Conviction

The documentary will follow the subsequent police inquiry, which saw investigators review CCTV from the night and scour the perpetrators' exit route. A crucial breakthrough came with the discovery of a bloodied hoodie and the murder weapon. Forensic analysis found the DNA of 16-year-old Shane Cunningham on the knife's blade.

Shane Cunningham was later convicted of Mikey's murder. The documentary will explore the complex legal proceedings, which also saw two other teenagers have their manslaughter convictions quashed.

Whitmore's Foray into True Crime

Laura Whitmore is no stranger to the genre, having recently presented Crime+Investigation's Britain's Killer Teens. In that series, she sought to answer the challenging question of 'why?' behind teenage violence. House Party Killer continues her exploration of this difficult subject matter, aiming to provide insight into a specific, real-life tragedy.

The programme is being touted as essential viewing for fans of true crime, particularly those who watched Netflix's hard-hitting drama Adolescence earlier this year. While the Netflix series explored fictional themes of youth, knife crime, and masculinity, House Party Killer is rooted in a single,真实的故事.

House Party Killer premieres on Wednesday, 14th January at 9pm. It will be available to watch on the Crime+Investigation channel, as well as on Sky, Virgin Media, Prime Video, YouTube, Apple's App Store, and Google Play.
