Kim Cattrall, who rose to fame as the bold and stylish Samantha Jones on HBO's Sex and the City, has returned to the fashion spotlight in a new campaign for Debenhams. The actress, known for her iconic designer outfits from Chanel and Fendi on the show, now models affordable pieces from the department store's online collection.
A Fashion Icon Embraces High Street Style
At 70 years old, Cattrall posed in a sheer floral trench coat from the Debenhams x Ashish collaboration, which retails for £100. The collection features vinyl trenches with belted waists and a selection of floral dresses, described as "garden party dressing reimagined for the city—and for the after-dark invite that inevitably follows."
In one striking look, she wore a dark floral dress while posing elegantly on a couch, and in another, she showcased a more casual ensemble with a multi-coloured patterned shirt and light blue jeans. Cattrall expressed her enthusiasm for the line, stating, "There's something wonderfully joyful about this second Designers at Debenhams x Ashish collection. It's glamorous, yes—but it's also playful and self-aware. It embraces femininity and sparkle without apology."
Reflections on a Modern Romance
Beyond fashion, Cattrall opened up about her personal life, particularly her marriage to fourth husband Russell Thomas, a 54-year-old BBC sound engineer. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall in December, following a courtship that began through social media.
She shared with The Times of London in June 2023 that she feels "very grateful" for their "lovely" relationship, which she described as having a "really gradual" progression compared to her earlier, more "instinctual" romances. Their connection sparked after Thomas direct-messaged her on Twitter (now X) following her appearance on BBC Radio 4, and it deepened when he visited her in Vancouver, Canada.
"It was very brave of him because we didn't really know each other other than having a few meals together. But he came and we got along great," Cattrall told People in 2020. "And we've been together ever since!" She added that their separate lives have blended into a "nice life," emphasizing her appreciation for this chapter.
This campaign marks a shift from Cattrall's high-fashion roots on Sex and the City, where she donned power suits, fur coats, and daring dresses, to embracing accessible style with Debenhams. Despite turning down a role in a Sex and the City spin-off, she continues to captivate audiences with her timeless elegance and candid insights into love and fashion.
