Beauty journalist Helen Wilson-Beevers, a self-confessed fan of full-coverage foundation, put Laura Mercier's new Tinted Blur Balm to the test. Known for its cult-favourite translucent powder and tinted moisturiser, the brand has launched a balm-to-powder tint promising a natural, matte finish with skincare benefits.
The product, housed in a gold compact with a mirror, retails at £39. Wilson-Beevers tested it over two days, wearing it for an evening out and a day at work. She found the formula lightweight and creamy, applying like a veil without greasiness. It contains peptides, squalane, and camelina sativa seed oil, which she noted provided instant nourishing and softening effects.
The balm creates a matte, velvety finish that looks natural, even after layering for more coverage. It did not cling to fine lines or settle in dry patches. Wilson-Beevers also used it as a concealer under the eyes and suggests it can be used for contouring by combining shades. The product stayed put during an evening out and was easy to top up during the day thanks to the included mirror.
While she usually prefers full-coverage foundation, Wilson-Beevers was impressed with the smoothing, subtle coverage and multi-tasking capabilities of the Tinted Blur Balm. She concludes that it has earned a place in her daily make-up routine, offering a lightweight base, concealer, finishing layer, or contouring product.
