Jackass: Best and Last, the final instalment of the franchise, premieres with a mix of new and archive footage that will make audiences gag and cry within minutes. The film includes previously unseen footage from 1998 of Johnny Knoxville testing a cheap bulletproof vest by shooting himself with a .38-caliber Smith and Wesson pistol, a scene MTV refused to air in full.
Unseen Footage and Boundary-Pushing Stunts
The 1998 bulletproof vest stunt opens the film, leaving viewers sweating within minutes. Director Jeff Tremaine told Metro that the scene was long withheld but now serves as a nostalgic anchor. The film splits its content evenly between new stunts and classic archive material, including robot rectal examinations lubricated with crunchy peanut butter and penis shock collars.
Johnny Knoxville, Chris Pontius, and the gang prove that physical self-torture at age 50 remains as unhinged as it was 25 years ago. However, newer stunts like Sean McInerney (Poopies) being injected with lip filler pale in comparison to earlier near-death moments, such as Knoxville being launched from a malfunctioning rocket in 2006.
Emotional Farewell and Bitter Exits
Speaking at the UK special screening at BFI IMAX in London, Knoxville said: 'I've said before that we're finished, but this is really it. It feels like a good place to end. We wanted to go out on our own terms and it feels like we have with this film.' Jeff Tremaine added: 'The final scene hit me more in the edit bay, there was a lot of nostalgia on that last big stunt. In the edit bay I was looking back at footage of how young we were… that hit me hard.'
Chris Pontius reflected: 'It was emotional to film the last scene, but it was such a good time too. It's just feels like it's all gone by so fast, but it's so nice to look back on those days when we first started Jackass and remember all of the good times.'
Key Details and Verdict
The film is rated 18 with a runtime of 92 minutes, releasing June 26, 2026. It features a cast including Johnny Knoxville, Chris Pontius, Steve-O, Wee Man, Dave England, Danger Ehren, Preston Lacy, Rachel Wolfson, Jasper Dolphin, Dark Shark, Sean McInerney, and Zach Holmes. Bam Margera appears only in older scenes following his bitter exit, and Ryan Dunn's death is acknowledged.
One standout scene involving laxatives, clear underwear, and a game of Twister nearly didn't make the cut, according to Tremaine. The final scene, which Knoxville insisted on filming at substantial studio cost, is surprisingly moving after back-to-back depravity. The verdict: Jackass: Best and Last is a nauseating trip down memory lane, with newer stunts lacking the death-defying factor but still delivering gross-out humour. The words 'Hi, I'm Johnny Knoxville and welcome to Jackass!' will live on beyond this final hurrah.
