MAGA Music Festival Cancelled After Artists Withdraw in South Carolina

The Rock the Country music festival, which critics had labelled a "MAGA fest" due to its political associations, has been officially cancelled in Anderson, South Carolina. The event was originally scheduled to take place on July 25 and 26, but will no longer proceed as planned.

Artist Withdrawals Lead to Cancellation

Anderson County administrator Rusty Burns confirmed the cancellation, attributing it to a series of high-profile artist withdrawals. The rock band Shinedown announced their exit from the festival, stating that their decision was made to avoid creating "further division" and to uphold their core purpose of uniting people through music.

In addition, rapper Ludacris also dropped off the bill. His representative indicated that there had been a 'mix-up' regarding his initial inclusion in the lineup, leading to his withdrawal from the event.

Ticket Refunds and Transfers

Ticket holders for the Anderson event are being offered two options:

  • Transfer their tickets to another Rock the Country festival stop, accompanied by a merchandise voucher.
  • Receive a full refund for their purchase.

The festival's cancellation highlights the ongoing tensions and divisions in the cultural landscape, particularly around events perceived to have strong political affiliations.
