Apprentice Candidate Exposes Behind-the-Scenes Tension at BBC Mansion
Roxanne Hamedi, a contestant on the current series of The Apprentice, has provided a candid insight into the fierce clashes and strategic manoeuvring that occur off-camera at the show's London mansion. The pharmacist-turned-businesswoman, who previously appeared on MTV's Geordie Shore, revealed that despite her reality TV experience, nothing prepared her for the intense environment behind the scenes of the BBC business competition.
A 'Viper's Nest' of Strategic Alliances
Hamedi described the shared accommodation where contestants reside between challenges as resembling a 'viper's nest', alleging that many co-stars are primarily fame-hungry and have established businesses merely to secure television exposure. She highlighted the formation of exclusive cliques and groups, which created significant tension among the candidates.
In an interview with The Sun, Hamedi explained: 'Not everybody has the best intentions. Some people would be quite strategic, and you’ve got to remember, not everyone’s your friend in this process. There was tension. People had their own little cliques and groups.'
Boardroom Battles Spill Over Into Personal Space
The candidate emphasised that the high-stakes confrontations from the boardroom frequently permeated the mansion, exacerbating interpersonal conflicts. Hamedi noted: 'What happens in the boardroom normally stays in the boardroom, but it’s hard not to take stuff back. We were all fighting for our lives in there. It’s tough when you know that you’ve contributed a lot to a task but then end up having to fight in the boardroom.'
She added that feelings of being 'thrown under the bus' during evaluations were often 'taken home' with candidates, leading to further discord and strained relationships within the shared living quarters.
Hamedi's Reality TV Background and Personal History
Roxanne Hamedi joined the cast of Geordie Shore in 2021 after responding to an online advertisement. During her time on the MTV series, she developed a relationship with original star James Tindale, though the couple later separated amid accusations of infidelity. At a 2022 reunion event, Tindale publicly denied having genuine feelings for Hamedi, stating their romance was confined to 'TV world'.
Hamedi reflected on the experience: 'We really liked each other, and he asked me to be his girlfriend. He definitely sold me the dream. I really believed what we had was real, but he broke my heart.'
Recent Apprentice Firings Spark Controversy
In related developments, the latest eliminated contestant from The Apprentice has publicly criticised their dismissal as 'unfair and disappointing'. Tanmay Hingorani, who was fired by Lord Sugar following a challenging poultry-based task, insisted that fellow candidate Megan Ruiter should have been held accountable for the team's failure.
The episode required contestants to create profitable dishes from chicken or eggs, with Hingorani's team struggling during a corporate negotiation. Team leader Carrington Saunders attributed the loss to Hingorani and Ruiter's handling of the deal, leading to their appearance in the boardroom.
Hingorani defended his actions: 'When we went into the negotiation, I was looking forward to it—I see negotiation as an art form, but that negotiation didn't become a nice piece of art. Karishma started with a monologue which set the tempo, and then Megan came through and set the price ceiling by saying £12, and I shook the hand on £11.80 trying to salvage it.'
He expressed his disappointment with the outcome: 'I am disappointed for it to end this way... I did take the bullet in the boardroom, and I do think it was unfair. But you win some and you lose some.' Hingorani further argued that Ruiter deserved the dismissal, stating: 'Looking back, it should have been Megan. I don’t think there is even an argument for it to have been anyone else.'
The Apprentice continues to air on BBC One and iPlayer every Thursday at 9pm, showcasing the ongoing battles both in the boardroom and behind the scenes at the contentious mansion.
