The sun-drenched Corfu home that television personalities Alan Carr and Amanda Holden meticulously renovated for their popular BBC series is reportedly poised to generate a substantial charitable windfall following its listing on the property market.
A Transformative Project for Charity
According to recent reports, the picturesque property located in the village of Kokkini has been placed on sale with an asking price of £585,000. This represents a remarkable potential profit of approximately £350,000, as the duo originally acquired the dilapidated house for a mere £30,000. All proceeds from the sale are pledged to benefit the charities Children in Need and Comic Relief.
From Derelict to Desirable
The renovation formed part of the latest series for Carr and Holden, following their previous property rescue missions in Italy and Spain. Both celebrities have openly described this particular project as their most challenging refurbishment to date.
Alan Carr reflected on the initial state of the property during the show, stating: 'I don't even think it was a house! Even though we're getting better at DIY, when we saw the state of it, my heart sank. But the transformation was mind-blowing.'
Amanda Holden added vivid details about the property's original condition, revealing: 'It didn't have stairs inside, it didn't have windows. Oh yes, and there was a message in blood written on the door outside.'
Beyond the Renovation: Career Updates
The property news emerges alongside other career developments for the presenting duo. Alan Carr recently addressed persistent speculation about potentially hosting the popular television programme Strictly Come Dancing.
During a question and answer session for his forthcoming Channel 4 programme Secret Genius, Carr explained his position on the hosting role. While acknowledging it would be 'an honour', he stated: 'I just think I like watching the show, I don't love it. I think it would be better for someone who really, really loves it, you know.'
He further elaborated: 'That show is so adored and so loved. You want someone in there who's like, 'Yeah, this Paso Doble was…'. I don't give a s**t. Give it to someone else, yeah.'
New Ventures on the Horizon
Carr's new programme, Secret Genius, developed in collaboration with Countdown's Susie Dent, is scheduled to premiere soon. The show will challenge contestants with logic puzzles created by Mensa, aiming to uncover hidden intellectual abilities.
Speaking about the forthcoming series, Carr expressed his enthusiasm: 'I have never ever been called a genius believe it or not, but I am fascinated by those people who do get labelled genius. Is it a gift, a curse, or a burden? I am so excited about 'Secret Genius', it's going to be absolutely fascinating.'
The successful Corfu renovation not only demonstrates the presenting pair's growing property expertise but also highlights their commitment to generating significant funds for charitable causes through their television projects.
