MAFS Intruder Bride Juliette Chae Lifts Lid on Controversial Husband Joel Moses

Married At First Sight intruder bride Juliette Chae has provided a candid insight into what her controversial husband Joel Moses is genuinely like behind closed doors. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail following the broadcast of her dramatic wedding episode, the 27-year-old receptionist confessed that while her nuptials initially appeared to be a fairytale, she could not overlook several concerning red flags.

The Wedding Day: A Mix of Excitement and Doubt

'The day for me still was so special,' Juliette reflected. 'It was nice to relive it… walking down that aisle and seeing Joel standing there.' She explained that she had fantasised about her wedding day throughout her entire life and was authentically enthusiastic to meet the man the relationship experts had selected for her. 'I was super, super keen and excited to see who the experts thought was going to be my fit,' she elaborated.

However, Juliette admitted that upon seeing Joel, a sense of apprehension quickly emerged. 'When I saw him, I definitely felt excited… in the back of my mind, it was all too good to be true.' According to Juliette, that instinctive feeling may have been accurate. 'Near the end of the wedding, I felt like it wasn't how I thought it would be initially,' she revealed. 'It definitely took me by surprise… it wasn't as the fairytale wedding as I thought it was going to be.'

Red Flags Emerge During Vows and Speeches

While television audiences observed Joel deliver a joke-heavy speech and embrace his flamboyant sense of humour, Juliette disclosed that his vows constituted her first major red flag. 'I thought he was nervous at the start,' she said. 'His vows initially were the first red flag for me… but I thought, you know what, it's probably just nerves.'

As the celebration progressed, she began to question whether nervousness was truly the cause. 'It started to feel like, wow, maybe it isn't nerves and he thinks this is a joke,' she conceded. Juliette characterised his delivery as 'very performative' and expressed her desire to witness a more raw and grounded version of Joel as the evening unfolded. 'I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt,' she stated.

Nevertheless, it was the speech delivered by Joel's mother that ultimately triggered a significant internal shift for Juliette. 'It felt like my heart had sunk,' Juliette confessed. 'I've never experienced a mother talking about their son in a negative light like that before. It really shocked me.' Despite this unsettling moment, she was swift to commend Joel's mother as 'beautiful' and 'really sincere' throughout the day, which rendered the speech even more perplexing.

Concerns Over Effort and Sincerity

Juliette also addressed criticisms that Joel neglected to properly greet her family and friends at the wedding. 'I feel like he didn't put in that much effort to get to know anyone,' she remarked. Once again, she initially attributed this to nerves, reasoning, 'You kind of assume it's just all nerves.'

In the limousine journey following the reception, Juliette recounted that Joel reassured her of his genuine intentions. 'He promised me that he was here for genuine reasons,' she said. 'All I can do is accept that… I've got to give him another chance.' However, when questioned about whether she perceived Joel as believing he was the central character of the experiment, she did not evade the issue. 'It was giving that a bit,' she admitted.

Navigating Group Dynamics and Feuds

Regarding what viewers can anticipate from them at forthcoming dinner parties, Juliette expressed hope that they can establish some unity. 'I'm hoping that when we do the honeymoon and everything, we develop some form of unity,' she said.

While Joel has already alluded to conflicts with fellow bride Gia Fleur, Juliette portrayed a more nuanced depiction of the group dynamics. She disclosed that both Gia and Mel approached her warmly at her wedding reception. 'Gia and Mel came up to me straight away… they were so lovely and beautiful to me,' she revealed. 'They made me feel really welcome into the group.'

Despite the ongoing tension between Gia and Bec dominating recent episodes, Juliette asserted that she endeavours to see the positive qualities in everyone. 'I see the beautiful side in everyone, definitely - until proven wrong,' she affirmed. When asked if she was apprehensive about being drawn into one side of the feud, Juliette insisted that her experience as an intruder bride differed substantially from those who had been present from the outset. 'I've had a completely different experience to everyone else,' she explained. 'Friendships changed, opinions changed, alliances changed.'

Reflections on Drama and Trusting Instincts

Concerning the Gia and Bec fallout, Juliette acknowledged that the drama has been sorrowful to observe. 'It's definitely sad,' she said. 'It has taken away from love stories. The show is about trying to find love.' She described being amidst the tension as 'overwhelming' and conceded that it was initially challenging to determine whom to trust. 'At first, it was hard to figure out who to trust,' she admitted.

Nevertheless, Juliette remains resolute in staying grounded. 'Trust your gut. Truth comes out,' she advised. When inquired whether she wished she had relied more on her instincts during her wedding day, she responded without hesitation. 'Yeah, definitely… in every aspect of life,' she declared. 'I think my gut serves me well in the end.'

Whether her instincts will guide her closer to love with Joel or further into the crossfire of the season's most significant feud remains to be seen. Married At First Sight continues on Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine and 9Now.
