A star from Channel 5's 'Rich Kids Go Skint' has accused the show of being 'very scripted' and 'fake.' The series, which first aired in 2018, sends young adults from wealthy backgrounds to live with families facing financial hardship.
Allegations of Scripted Content
Cleo, who appeared in the first season with her mother Anna Nichols and three siblings, claimed producers encouraged her family to overstate their financial situation. In a viral TikTok clip, she alleged the episode was 'all fake.'
Behind-the-Scenes Claims
Cleo stated that the local park featured in the show was not where her brothers played, and a scene where they pretended to be scared was staged. She also claimed her mother was asked to pretend a £40 budget was her usual weekly shop, which was untrue.
'My family are not poor, far from poor,' Cleo concluded. The episode also showed wealthy participant Fergus Prutton struggling to buy groceries for £40, a task he found challenging.
Channel 5 Response
Mirror has approached Channel 5 for comment. The show remains available to stream on Channel 5.
