Sinitta's Candid Confession About I'm A Celebrity Camera Strategy

Singer Sinitta has opened up about her deliberate decision to play up for the cameras during her debut appearance on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2011. The So Macho artist, now 62, lasted just 14 days in the jungle fifteen years ago, becoming the second celebrity eliminated after gaining a reputation for her fearful reactions to the notorious Bushtucker Trials.

Revealing the Truth Behind the Fear

During an appearance on This Morning with hosts Emma Willis and Rylan Clark on Monday, April 6, ahead of the second series of the ITV All Stars spin-off, Sinitta admitted her reactions weren't entirely genuine. "I did actually think, you know I was on X Factor and I thought of Simon [Cowell], he's not going to let them make me do it and they will feed me," she explained. "I thought, do good TV and then they will feed you."

Rylan Clark, 37, responded with amusement: "I love it, so you thought, 'I'll go in the jungle, I'll do my bit for the camera and then they will give me a McDonalds at the end of it'." Sinitta confirmed this was indeed her expectation, adding that she initially didn't believe the show was real before participating.

Disappointment and Reality Check

Nodding along, Sinitta revealed her disappointment: "And no, nothing, you really have to go collect your water, you really have to sleep outside with things running over your sleeping bag." She later discussed her hopes for less terrifying trials upon returning for the All Stars edition, explaining she had detailed conversations with producers about what she would and wouldn't do.

"I told [the producers] what I wouldn't do and what I would do," Sinitta recalled. "You have these long interviews, I'm older now, they have to be careful with me now because I'm older, but no. I believed them because I was really hesitating." Shaking her head, she added that producers ultimately disregarded her concerns: "They were like, you know, 'we know now, you just say [what you don't want to do], but no.'"

Secret Coffee Smuggling Operation Revealed

The interview also uncovered another surprising revelation about Sinitta's All Stars experience. The singer confessed to smuggling coffee and hot chocolate into the South African camp under the noses of production staff. According to reports, Sinitta spotted small sachets of coffee and a kettle in a room before her entrance and decided to take matters into her own hands.

"People need coffee, and sugar!" Sinitta explained. "They put me in this room that had these little sachets and a little kettle, and I kept looking at it and stuffed it in my bra." She believes production staff might have suspected something was amiss: "I don't think they knew it was me... but I think they could smell coffee or that something was going on. The rice was tasting good."

Contraband History on I'm A Celebrity

Sinitta's coffee smuggling follows a long tradition of celebrities attempting to bring unauthorized items into the jungle. Fellow All Stars contestant Scarlett Moffatt confirmed the secret remained undiscovered: "I don't think it ever got found out. I think we just sat there drinking it and didn't dare say anything in case."

This isn't the first contraband incident in the show's history:

  • Last year, Alex Scott was caught smuggling salt packets
  • Gillian McKeith brought herbs and spices in 2010
  • Amy Willerton attempted to bring makeup in 2013
  • Sean McCullough smuggled tea bags in 2024

All Stars Competition and Tensions

The second series of I'm A Celebrity All Stars features returning fan favorites including Adam Thomas, Ashley Roberts, Scarlett Moffatt, David Haye, Beverley Callard, Seann Walsh, Sinitta, Sir Mo Farah, Gemma Collins, Craig Charles, Jimmy Bullard, and Harry Redknapp. Filmed in Kruger National Park, South Africa, the show premiered on ITV on Monday night.

Pre-Show Drama and Feud Allegations

Tensions reportedly emerged before filming even began. According to reports, Gemma Collins accused Sinitta of being a "rat" in the show's WhatsApp group and leaking stories to the press. Sinitta responded strongly to these allegations: "I've been accused of being the rat who's been selling the WhatsApp stories... the only rat amongst us were those in the jungle."

A source close to Sinitta claimed she was "dumbfounded and incredibly upset" by the unsubstantiated accusations, which reportedly caused tension among the wider cast who feared they might be next to face similar allegations.

Challenging Trials and Camp Dynamics

The All Stars edition introduces a brutal twist where contestants face trials before even reaching camp. The first episode saw Adam and Ashley appointed as team captains, with teams competing in challenges including Tipped Over the Edge and Unlucky Lodges. A particularly difficult challenge called Level Up required Seann Walsh and Sinitta to grab stars 140 feet above ground, with Sinitta crashing to the floor during the attempt.

Adding to the pressure, one person from each losing team faces banishment to the basic Savannah Scrub camp. The celebrities were reportedly left speechless when two additional campmates joined them unexpectedly at the end of the first installment.

As the competition continues, viewers will watch these returning celebrities battle for the title of jungle legend while navigating camp dynamics, challenging trials, and the unexpected revelations that continue to emerge about their experiences both past and present.
