Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing's Intimate Parenting Documentary Nears Disney+ Release

Made in Chelsea stars Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing are set to unveil their personal pregnancy journey in a revealing new Disney+ documentary titled Raising Chelsea, which premieres in just days. The three-part series offers an intimate look at the couple's experiences from preparing for their baby's arrival through to the labour process, capturing the messy, scary, and hilarious realities of becoming first-time parents.

Behind the Scenes of a Reality TV Couple's Parenthood Journey

The official synopsis describes the documentary as following the former Made in Chelsea stars as they navigate the joys and challenges of impending parenthood. Jamie Laing, portrayed as a fun-loving workaholic who struggles to envision himself as a dad, faces panic amid medical jargon, home renovations, and family opinions. Meanwhile, Sophie Habboo balances career highs with fears about maternity leave and motherhood impacting her professional life, all while dealing with raging hormones.

Throughout the series, the couple runs headlong into the drama of labour, ultimately meeting their baby with family and friends by their side, sharing both laughter and tears through the chaos. The documentary is scheduled to land on the streaming platform on April 2, as announced today, March 24.

The Unplanned Birth Scene That Made the Final Cut

Ahead of the release, Sophie Habboo disclosed that there was one particularly vulnerable moment featured in the series that she never anticipated including. In an honest admission, she explained the couple's ongoing dynamic regarding sharing personal details publicly.

"We always have this struggle in our relationship with the podcast, with social media, online, everything. Jamie would want to share every single thing, and I more so find that a little bit scary," Sophie revealed. "However, with this TV show, after we started filming, we quickly realised, well, I realised, that it wasn't going to work unless we showed everything."

She continued, emphasising the authenticity of the birth scene: "And with the birth scene, we really didn't expect to go in there. I didn't actually want to film that, but it's there and it's real and that is the story and that is what happened. I've just gone for it."

How the Birth Footage Came to Be Included

Jamie Laing was quick to clarify that he did not pressure Sophie to film the birth, with Sophie sharing the heartfelt reason behind its inclusion. She recounted how their anaesthetist unexpectedly captured the entire event on her phone during the birth of their son, Ziggy, in December.

"What actually happened was my anaesthetist took my phone and filmed the whole thing! When I'd given birth and we were looking through the photos, we were like, 'Oh my God, the whole thing's been filmed'," she recalled. "And actually, it made us feel really emotional and obviously it was the greatest day of our lives. We thought 'Do you know what? It happens, it's real life' and we put it in there."

The couple's love story began on the reality series Made in Chelsea, leading to years of dating before Jamie proposed at the Rosewood London hotel in December 2021—the same location as their first date. Raising Chelsea will be available to stream on Disney+ starting April 2, offering subscribers a raw and emotional glimpse into their transition to parenthood.
